I find it odd that this comes as a surprise to anyone. Trump is only concerned about himself and wants to be worshipped by the loyal followers, no one else matters and in the case of the loyal followers... they only matter while they are worshiping him, beyond that everyone’s expendable.

Everything we have heard and seen for the last four years is really like a photograph of one thing taken from different angles, his colossal ego. The news reports and tell all books just fill in the details of the same picture to the point where we have a 3-d rendering.

I agree that anyone not worshiping him is expendable to him, but they matter to him in a sick way. It is not enough for him to be praised, those not praising him have to be explained away, denigrated and insulted. I think they are more important to him than his followers.
