The war on democracy -- bigger than election 2020

There's another thread citing Bill Kristol's tweet about Trump's strategy being tied to voter suppression, executive privilege, foreign interference.....etc.

So then, why are we focusing on getting out the vote? It didn't it work in 2016 when Clinton got the popular count, but Trump got the white house.

Shouldn't we be focusing instead on the other factors working in Trump's favor?

How can we combat executive privilege and foreign interference? How can we reverse or stall McConnell's abetment to the forces that diminish and destroy our democracy?

Voting blue is great. But it's not enough I fear.

Amen. Saying, "to focus on INSTEAD of voting," is sacrilege. Beakybird Jun 2020 #3

Oh, there's so much more to it, I am not even going to go into details.

We are seeing things come to a head about many issues, though. That's the tip.

It would take a lot of time, effort and study to clear away the cobwebs and truly protect democracy. Our problems are systemic, if that helps. Capitalism is not really our friend is another way to put it. It isn't the friend of democracy, though it plays one on TV.

The choice will come down to that, in my opinion and the stakes will be high enough to make that clear.

I think you should focus on voting and GOTV -- for Democratic candidates! -- since that's what we as citizens can and have a duty to do.

Those whose job it is to fight the battles we're seeing in the news every single day, and winning some big ones, will continue their battles AND vote.

"Any functioning adult 2020," that our new member posted in another thread would also serve to encourage Trump voters. In another era I might have approved it for pro-voting sentiment, but emphatically not this one.
