PHOENIX – The Arizona health department reported 3,591 new coronavirus cases, a single-day high, and 42 additional deaths Tuesday morning.

That increased Arizona’s totals to 58,179 COVID-19 cases and 1,384 deaths on the day President Donald Trump was visiting the state.

The previous single-day high for cases was 3,246 reported on June 19.

The Arizona Department of Health Services has been providing case and testing updates on its website each morning. The dashboard includes, among other information, testing trends, updated hospital capacity and a ZIP Code map of cases.

The last 2 days were weekend numbers and they always report lower since some offices are close.

With business still opening up and exponential growth of the virus. I am going to predict a jump in cases today.

Really feel bad for those with governors who like Trump, did not care who died. Whatever was better for business.

I still worry even in PA. Even though PA has been recording more 500+ new case days lately, my county does not appear to be much part of that - the county had 19 new cases yesterday. But it is a populous county entering the green phase soon, so we must continue to be careful. And fears of a rebound in the fall are legit.

Allegheny County jumped yesterday and with more businesses opening and less social distancing I can't see how this figure will not go up. The good new is the hospitalization rates are not going up.

I'm in a Philly burb. The chatter from people here is utterly stupid about masks.

Wolf has done a fine job, though I would have liked something better in regards to unemployment and rent relief. However, I know he's up against a GOP wall.

With all the ReopenPA nonsense and the disaster declaration flex from the PA GOP, I have little faith in the event of a resurgence. People in my supposedly blue area are eating up the "masks kill your American freedom and make baby Jesus cry" bullshit.

I still see most all people wearing masks, luckily. In the green phase, higher cases would be no surprise, but I do trust Wolf to put any counties that surge too much back to yellow.

Agreed about unemployment and rent/foreclosure relief. Food stamps also did not get a real boost. But the legislature probably is also behind that.

Usually 3-4 week lag until deaths start to spike. I expect by next week for us to see a significant jump in deaths.

But we've gotten better at treating this so hopefully not all the way back up to 2,000 a day.
