Hello my lovely fellow DUers.
We have had a marvellous Spring Competition with 30 original and varied images being submitted. The Preliminary round of voting closed earlier today, and so it time for us to once again ask you all to vote for your favourite of the favourites. I think you may have a difficult time choosing. They are all awe inspiring images, and bring a bucket load of beauty into what is a rather dismal time. A huge thank you for everyone who took part and even if your image did not make it into the final they were still terrific. Well done to the 9 images that made it into the final. Your pictures are out of this world.
The poll will stay open for 72 hours and I will announce the winner shortly there after.
So without further ado ladies and gentlemen - the finalists are:
Do Bee Dobee Dooo . . .
Feed me, feed me!
Surprise
The Red Admiral
Cabin in the woods
Late Spring 3rd Street Stuff
Juncos on my porch
New Life - June 2020
Foster Kittens

(9,685 posts)But I never vote in the finals when I am hosting, so I can happily say they are all equally gorgeous
Solly Mack
(90,767 posts)It's an excellent shot.
The snake this go round because it's a great shot and I'm fond of snakes.
Fond of bees too.
I'd hang both in my home.
I'd also hang the cabin, the butterfly, the street art, the...
I really like them all.

(652 posts)I voted for Feed Me, Feed Me because that photo captures the first signs of spring at my house. We always have 3 nests full of eggs, and then baby birds, 2 on the columns under the front porch roof and one on the kitchen windowsill (which is outside).

(106 posts)So you were close (and I love Brevard)!
This cabin is just north of a small town called Rutherfordton.

(9,651 posts)Now can someone tell me how I can get to that cabin?
I want to live there.
Soph0571
(9,685 posts)... until you are under a feet of snow without central heating...
Dem2theMax
(9,651 posts)none of that would bother me in the least.
Now that I'm old and arthritic, shoveling snow doesn't sound as fun as it did when I actually lived in the mountains.
Foot of snow? Try many, many feet of snow.
All these years later, my back still remembers all those feet of snow.

(9,651 posts)Not only did I live in the mountains, I worked outside. I had to get my 'must live in the mountains and run a chairlift' feeling out of my system.
There was one day that I know it was 10 below, but I had no idea what the windchill factor was that day. I do remember it was very windy. I still wish I could have found out what it was with windchill factor.
You actually get used to it. You can eat anything you want and you burn it all off. Nobody tells you that when it starts warming up, don't eat so much. All of a sudden your pants are too tight. And when I say warm up, I'm talking about 25 degrees.
Once you get into the below zero numbers, when it comes back up into the twenties, we were actually wearing t-shirts, and sweating. Seriously. Those were the good old days!

We only average 4" of snow per winter! (Cabin is in Rutherford County, NC)
Dem2theMax
(9,651 posts)My ancient / arthritic body can handle 4 inches of snow!
Packing the car and heading to North Carolina!

(106 posts)Some of the higher elevations don't see their sidewalks until April. I'm getting advanced in years and prefer the more gentle foothills.
