(6,265 posts)is truly a functioning idiot, basically a wilful illiterate and a white nationalist/racist. And Theodore Roosevelt was the same. A family member of mine was with him at San Juan Hill. Just FYI, Kettle Hill was the real pitched vicious battle and much more defended than San Juan Hill. Roosevelt sent elements of the 24-25 Infantry(Colored) against Kettle Hill. Soldiers in the San Juan Hill attack got beaucoup medals. Kettle Hill, not many at all so as to mean the "immunes" didn't rate. Hmmm, I wonder why? Elements of the 9-10 Calvary(Colored) also attacked Kettle Hill, the same outcome in the area of commendations for bravery, etc etc. One of the most vicious battles in Hearst's war in Cuba. That's why I wouldn't care if any statue commending his military service was melted down and disappeared.
