"SNIP.....
Dr. Deborah Birx, the coordinator of President Trumps coronavirus task force, told the nations governors in a call Monday that it was vital that they ramp up testing to find asymptomatic individuals to prevent further community spread, the Daily Beast reports.
Her remarks stood in stark contrast to those by the president at his rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma over the weekendand the days sincein which he said he had asked his team to slow-walk testing initiatives so as not to inflate the countrys official case count.

(7,947 posts)I know it's hard to come out and say, "Um, Mr. Trump, you do realize that people who test positive for Covid already have it? The test doesn't cause it?"
I remember my 3-year-old, trying to get out of taking a nap, used to say, "Sleep just makes me tired!"
Trump is at a 3=year-old level of understanding cause and effect.
Then again, [link:https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/07/trumps-collaborators/612250/|as Anne Applebaum in this great article in Atlantic points out, the only principle for Trump is "Trump first."

So the problem with testing is it REVEALS, not causes, the number of those infected. He doesn't want us to know how many people are sick because it looks bad for him. And he actually says it out loud, because he thinks the rest of us also subscribe to the Trump First principle. He assumes we will of course agree that the real problem is that this looks bad for him.
He seems to think that children can test positive and then be fine in 15 minutes, that they don't get sick, that they don't pass the disease on. But it looks like kids over 10 are almost as likely to get the disease (although usually not suffer as much) as adults-- that a lot of the lower incidence has to do with children associating only with their families for 3 months. I guess we'll see as summer camps get going and kids are hanging with each other then going home.

(15,224 posts)It's just a bunch of words that are still able to be formed by what's left of his congenitally limited brain. Not sure if the brain capacity is now more limited by drugs, lifestyle, syphilis, or just echos.
Fauci said a bit later that no one has ordered fewer tests within the US gov't. But then what does Fauci know?
peeResident's current spoke said that he was joking. peeResident said he doesn't joke.
We know he has no sense of humor. That usually involves empathy.
Unless his funny-bone is struck when people die or suffer.
Sad.
