(6,930 posts)What kind of hamburger are you buying?!
I buy grass fed, and that can be expensive, but the other ground beef are nowhere near that price.

(6,930 posts)That sounds crazy! Glad I do not eat much meat, but that has to be a pain if its a staple for you. It seems everything is going up lately.

(6,843 posts)Paying premium for a non-finished beef is ludicrous
Blue_true
(31,261 posts)Don't people prefer grass fed over finished because grass fed is typically leaner (which for beef is not always the best thing, IMO)?

(6,843 posts)It is what puts on marbeling and white fat. It is done in a feed lot and is expensive.
Just taking a beef right off the prairie is cheaper and easier. There is no reason for it to be more expensive.

(26,064 posts)Even ground chuck 80/20 at someplace like Aldi is $4/lb.

(25,816 posts)The average chuck roast was 16 bucks. I'll be cutting way back on my meat intake.
Steak--forget it. And it's not just meat.

(34,661 posts)gotcha. They have used the first ten days of March as a vehicle to jack the crap out of prices without increasing prices paid for Live weight animals.
But,that is okay,Immigrants are being forced back into the Death Buildings called Slaughterhouses. Got to fill those Export Orders in order to make the Orange Anus look good.

Funny, if I am at a friend's place and all they have is curry goat or oxtail, I'll have a little gravy rather than embarrass them. It's not an obsession just a choice I made back in 1979.

(26,064 posts)It's what I always pay, including for grassfed, localish beef. Even "regular" ground beef is $3-4.
It is interesting to me so many people on this thread thinks that's expensive, especially when the price for good hamburger has actually gotten a little cheaper the last couple years..
