Harley-Davidson severs ties with dealer over Black Lives Matter post

Polaris and Harley’s actions are the latest indication corporate America is taking a harder line against systemic racism in the business world.

“I’m sick of this black lives matter," read the post, which then used an expletive to call for Black people to return to Africa. Abernathy has said his Facebook page -- which features a photo of him standing next to a motorcycle and pointing up at a Confederate flag -- was hacked, according to Honda.

Harley said Tuesday it has decided to cut ties with Abernathy, almost a week after Polaris announced it would part ways with him.

Polaris and Harley’s actions are the latest indication corporate America is taking a harder line against systemic racism in the business world. Polaris is headquartered in a suburb of Minneapolis near where George Floyd, an unarmed Black man, died late last month after a city police officer knelt on his neck for almost nine minutes. The maker of all-terrain vehicles said June 3 it would donate $250,000 to local charities supporting racial equality.

“Racism, hate or intolerance have no place in the Harley-Davidson community -- employees, dealers, riders or enthusiasts," the Milwaukee-based manufacturer said in a statement. “The dealer owner in question will no longer be part of our dealer network and we are finalising details on the dealer owner’s exit."

I live in a town on the old Route 66. Folks taking route 66 run from Chicago to St. Louis or beyond, come through almost daily in bike groups.
I see nearly every type of crushing bike there is, at least once a week, May to September.
I've seen cars and bikes with people from the UK, France, Holland, Germany, Japan, Australia, China, and of course Canada come through our town of 6,000!
Well, not this year so far.

The Five Best Chinese Motorcycles on the Market Today
Garrett Parker 2 years ago

Motorcycles are a popular means of transportation in China. As a result, it should come as no surprise to learn that there are a lot of Chinese motorcycle manufacturers that have managed to make a fortune by selling their products to the billion-plus Chinese consumer market. Moreover, it is interesting to note that said motorcycle manufacturers have been looking into foreign markets for a long, long time, as shown by the fact that many of them either sell their products in foreign markets or have set up partnerships with foreign motorcycle manufacturers with various aims in mind.

Some people might be concerned about the quality of Chinese-made motorcycles. After all, Chinese-made products don’t have the best reputation in foreign countries, as shown by the numerous jokes based on their supposed inferiority. However, interested individuals need to remember that Chinese businesses make a wide range of products, including some of the most high-value gadgets that can be found out there. As a result, motorcycle enthusiasts should pay some attention to Chinese motorcycles, not least because Chinese motorcycle manufacturers are pouring a huge amount of resources into making sure that their products will be better and better.

Here are five of the best Chinese-made motorcycles that can be found out there:
Benelli Leoncino

Nominally, Benelli is an Italian motorcycle manufacturer. In practice, well, suffice to say that Benelli is now owned by a Chinese motorcycle manufacturer called Group Qianjiang, which specializes in the manufacturing of two-wheeler motor vehicles. On top of that, it should be mentioned that the Benelli Leoncino was actually developed in China, meaning that while it incorporates a fair amount of Italian influence, it can be argued that it is a Chinese motorcycle in truth. Regardless, it combines a 500cc parallel twin engine with a chassis that screams modern scrambler to produce something rather interesting.
CFMoto 650NK

The CFMoto 650NK is a variation on the CFMoto 650 TK, meaning that it shares its upside of being a lightweight vehicle with a fair amount of power to it. However, there are those who prefer the CFMoto 650NK because of its striped-down appearance, which provides it with more of a flair compared to its stodgier counterpart. In fact, the CFMoto 650NK can actually be found in a number of countries out there under different names, with an excellent example being WK Bikes over in the United Kingdom.
Chang Jiang 650

Chang Jiang is a Chinese motorcycle brand named for the Chinese river of the same name, which might be better-known to people in the English-speaking world as either the Yangtze or the Long River. Regardless, Chang Jiang is interesting in that it specializes in making replicas of old motorcycles with iconic status in its main market. For instance, the Chang Jiang 650 is a replica of a rather well-known Ural machine. However, its engine has since been updated to something much more modern because of emissions regulation, making it an interesting choice for people who want something retro.

The launch of the premium musical instrument manufacture in Japan started by making making replicas of famed guitar models. And violins (Yamaha).
Now, Japan dominates the mid market in guitars, basses, and drums, and dominates the entire electronic keyboard market.
And, Yamaha is a MAJOR player in pianos.
Pretty huge success in 45 years.
This company appears to be following that model with motorcycles.

get a good resale price - almost as high as the new ones with the new dependable Japanese engine. There's also a group of enthusiasts who use a R75 BMW engine conversion.
