I have a problem with John Bolton's "Democratic malpractice" claim about impeachment.
He claims there was a model from Watergate and the Democrats did not use it.
That simply is not true. Democrats controlled the House and Senate when Watergate was going on. And there were much more moderate Republicans at that time. It would have been nice if Pelosi and the Democrats had had the votes to convict Trump. But, they knew they didn't have the votes. Still, they impeached. Because it was their duty to impeach. It was the duty of the Senate to convict. The House had to do their job, regardless of what the Senate did. Bolton's claim of "Democratic malpractice" is not consistent with his comments that no matter if he had testified, no one was going to change their minds about Trump at that stage of the game. The Democrats could not change any minds? That does not mean the Democrats should not have impeached.

4. I thought he was a POS before now, his interview on Colbert
reminded me he is nothing but a partisan hack WHO when he had a chance to do the right thing for the country, did nothing.
At that point, trump's incompetence and unfitness was readily apparent to even Bolton, but he did nothing. |

13. Bullshit.
The WH was going to tie up everything in the courts for months. Ignoring subpoenas, withholding records, etc. Republicans turned committee hearings into a circus. I've heard Bolton try to compare that partisan circus to the Watergate committees. Watergate was long before the hyperpartisan gridlock created by Kenneth Starr, Fox News, Limbaugh, Gingrich, Tom Delay, Tea Party, McConnell, Dump & Co.
Bolton says he worked on the Goldwater and Reagan campaigns. He's been really fucked up for a really long time. ![]() |

Those were the men who walked over to Nixon's White House and told him it was time to go. For the good of the country.
But that was long ago -- in another country, so to speak, and those men are dead. |

29. :) Kentuck, the argument's lost when we buy the premise.
No matter how right you are, NEVER start a refutation by repeating the claim you're refuting. Bolton didn't write the book I read it in, but he could ahve.
McConnell and company would have refused to find Trump guilty if he'd shot someone right there on the senate floor. |

30. Pay no mind.....
to what Bolton is claiming. Most people know he is trying to deflect from his unsavory behavior in all of this. Also it shows that Bolton is not that intelligent when it comes to historical facts and is hoping others are not either! But THESE FACTS are good to point out when we see bloggers criticize Democrats. Only a Democratic win of all three branches in November will can remedy some of the damage the GOP and Trump have foisted upon/to this country.

31. Bolton's comments on the democratic impeachment process are a self-serving crock of shit.
The Democratic strategy of choosing a limited but very serious crime with clear evidence that it had been committed was smart and legally sound. Taking Bolton's path of charging Trump with every crime he had committed since entering office would have ended in a quagmire of confusion and competing narratives. As Bolton well knows. He sold out his country to make a few million dollars on a book.
