Former vice president and presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden has the overwhelming lead in the 2020 presidential campaign among Black Americans, according to a new poll.
A new Washington Post-Ipsos poll found that 92 percent of Black registered voters support Biden over President Donald Trump.
Survey participants were split evenly on how they would cast their votes in November, with 49 percent saying they mainly "support Biden" and 50 percent saying they mainly "oppose Trump." The group is also split down the middle on whether it matters if Biden picks a black woman to be his running mate for the election.
Black Americans ranked police conduct and racism as the key issues when it comes to choosing a candidate for president. Ninety-four percent of Black Americans think the country needs to continue making changes that give Black Americans equal rights with white Americans.

I work in mental health -
1 . A patient - delusional and paranoid - but said he liked trump
2. My dad's friend who is a religious fundie - who thinks trump had to defeat HRC because you know, gay marriage and abortion
3. A former friend who has always been anti government - he's not so much of a trump fan now due to the outright racism but still sees him somehow as an outsider dismantling the government.
I don't think any rational black person supports trump.

(28,493 posts)I understand the patient. He can't help himself. But the other two?
I will add that I have the misfortune to know very few black people. I live in New Mexico, so I know lots of Hispanics and a reasonable number of Native Americans. In the past I have lived in places where I've been lucky enough to know more black people, and even count a few as friends. Not enough.
I am inclined to agree that no rational black person would support Trump. Nor would any rational LGBQT person. Nor almost any woman. The problem is that too many people are not rational.

(5,068 posts)The ongoing great American tragedy is that a third or more of eligible voters don't bother to vote. I am not saying this is a black issue or anything other than the base statistic that if the majority of the eligible voters actually voted and voted their interests, not follow a bumper sticker slogan like MAGA, I have to think the Dems would win big and we could become a progressive world leading country again.

I wouldn't get overly confident on these numbers...
