I HATE What Trump Has Done to the Country ...

Last edited Fri Jun 26, 2020, 05:18 PM - Edit history (1)

… but I LOVE what he’s doing to the GOP.

With less than five months to go between now and the November election, the Republican party is faced with trying to re-elect a man whose entire “pResidency” has been a disaster of monumental proportions.

The country is engulfed in debt, millions of citizens are out of work, over 120,000 Americans are in their graves – and tens of thousands of those deaths were directly caused by Trump’s incompetence, stupidity, and lack of morals.

But that’s not the worst of it. The fact is that the GOP’s 2020 candidate is completely unhinged, which becomes increasingly apparent on a daily basis. As the cases of Covid-19 are spiking across the nation, Trump continues to claim that the virus is all but gone.

Not only is he contradicting medical experts, he’s now contradicting his own WH advisors, his own PR staff, and his own attorney general.

Everything the Dotard has done to reassert himself as “presidential” in the eyes of the voters has not only failed miserably, but has backfired spectacularly. The walk to St. John’s Church to hold up a Bible for a photo-op was condemned by actual Christians. The West Point attendance he insisted on, despite the health risk to the cadets, ended with a doddering old man trying to master a glass of water and a ramp.

The 90,000-attendee Tulsa rally turned out to be 6,200 people, who had to sit through twenty minutes of revisionist history about the water-and-ramp fiasco, followed by a rambling word salad comprised of whining paranoia and displays of self-pitying victimhood.

And then there’s George Floyd’s death and the ensuing national and international protests against racial inequality/injustice, which in turn has led to protests against police brutality, which in turn has led to the toppling of monuments erected to honour Confederate leaders who committed treason against the Union in order to uphold the legality of slavery.

While Trump continues to call protestors thugs and anarchists, polls show that the majority of the citizenry support their aims, which leaves the Republicans having no choice but to appeal to Trump’s dwindling ‘base’ of bigots and racists – a base nowhere near enough to re-elect him.

What makes this state of affairs so undeniably delicious is the fact that the man the Republicans were willing to sell their souls to protect, the man they lied for, committed perjury for, defended when he was indefensible is the same man who is bringing their party down with him. The man the GOP enabled to destroy the country is now destroying the GOP.

They should have known from day one that in Trump’s mind, loyalty is a one-way street – and if he takes every last Republican sycophant down with him, he will consider it justified because they failed to secure him a second term.

It was never “party above country” for the PTB in the GOP. It was “Trump above party”. I’m sure that seemed like a good idea at the time. But nowadays – not so much.

To say the Republicans are caught between a rock and a hard place would be the understatement of the century.

is probably worth serious consideration.

Thanks to the handling of the coronavirus, leaving the country may become a lot more difficult, for at least another 6 months or more. Those who have already gotten out are indeed fortunate.

That leaves finding a more remote spot here.

I'm not exactly going to the middle of nowhere, but I am leaving downtown high rise living for a small, single house with a bit of garden and protected, undeveloped view. My decision is based on the handling of coronavirus and the fact I think I will be at less risk in that environment--and happier staying home indefinitely--until there is treatment to prevent the virus from destroying vital organs. Forget vaccines. It mutates too easily.

Think about what this means for the economy. And to the racists and bigots who have been encouraged to become violent by their wannabe dictator. I hope I'm wrong, but I fear we are in for some very disturbing times.

The overwhelming thing, beyond kids in cages, beyond the pathological lying, beyond all the crazy shit, is the fact that nearly half of the country are the dumbest motherfuckers to ever walk the planet. And that won't be fixed no matter who wins the election.

White House, House of Reps and Senate.

Should we put the entire GOP on trial for their 4 years of obfuscation, lies and cover-ups?

Should the Mueller Report be read into the record, and a new investigation launched?

Should we kick their asses so hard and so frequently that our new initiatives can barely be heard above the anguished cries of the traitors being led to the hoosegow?

Fri Jun 26, 2020, 08:33 AM

that failed him. Not that I don't think he's been deliberately using his power to hurt them all along. But now, though furious and frightened of losing, he's coming to accept it. Plus, it really seems he doesn't want to win either.

So we're at a point where even the mounting genocide from loosing pandemic on a nation that's betrayed him isn't enough. Sociopathic rage looks for more and more ways to hurt. He's a coward, though, who's always been afraid to use his ultimate power (may it stay that way!), and perhaps the case and massive death counts he denies mark victories he doesn't have the guts to claim.

Wondering if both parties are seeing a time approaching to offer him a deal. Even if he accepted, though, the mass social psychopathy he merely epitomizes would still rule the remnants of the Republican Party. If we can't put them down, we have to at least defang them in the elections.

But I also don't want to see a deal made where he gets off Scot free. He's done too much harm...children in cages, millions dying from virus, stealing from the American treasury hand over fist,...well you know. And I don't want his children to make off with millions with no consequences. As far as I'm concerned he's a Russian asset who sold out his country. And that goes for Pence too.

Yet people in the media kept assuming there was something "deeper" to him, and his campaigning was just an act to get votes.

His biographers were basically telling the public, "Nope, that's REALLY him," but they were largely ignored.

And there's still a few dummies who assume that he's playing "3D Chess" or whatever. No, he's just a big orange clown who inherited a lot of money. He was stupid enough to believe FOX News too, so his campaign was pretty much a reflection of that nonsense. And the voters in the FOX News bubble recognized it and liked it.

CNN's Van Jones is a frequent Trump critic if there ever was one. But after the president's speech to the nation on Tuesday night, Jones got emotional and was clearly impressed by Trump's handling of one particular part of the speech.

Jones said Trump's tribute to Navy SEAL Ryan Owens, who died in a raid in Yemen, was “one of the most extraordinary moments you have ever seen in American politics, period” and that it was the moment Trump “became president of the United States.” He also said it's the kind of thing that could make Trump a two-term president.

30 years

it was limbaugh trump coordinated with, and in doing so he was colluding with putin, who's been using limbaugh since at least 2008 when manafort used limbaugh to force palin on mccain.

it was limbaugh who made establishment candidates bush and rubio unacceptable in the primaries

it was limbaugh calling covid a hoax for the first two months responsible for enabling same from trump and killing thousands and now perhaps millions. and limbaugh wouldn't have done it without go ahead/coordination from the white house, making clear that media and dem investigators need to look into a strategy to use covid for election purposes like they did ebola in 2014 - the covid response delay is what putin would want and as usual all he had to do was feed limbaugh.

it has less to do with trump incompetence than criminal intent

we would not have trump without limbaugh and it all could have been prevented, along with bush and the iraq war, if dems had not ignored rw talk radio.

republicans know who to blame but are afraid - they need help from dems

The best government is one with a healthy sane opposition.

President Obama subtly made this point several times, when he spoke of the need of Americans "to hold his feet to the fire."

I reject historical post-Nixon Republican ideology in its entirety, but it makes us better when we think about how to address their (at one time) sane objections to our policies.

That they morphed into the "Know Nothing" party of former Whigs that was included in their origins, is very sad, given that at one time they were the party of Presidents Lincoln and Grant who worked in opposition to the extreme racism of their times.
