(86,536 posts)it's a specific detail of a finite number who are qualified and assigned. Several have been ordered to quarantine by OPM, I think it was, so that shrinks the size of the available pool.

If he goes to Leesburg to play there will be some people with signs to greet him.

(175,731 posts)Will you be one of them?
Several years ago, I was staying with friends in VA. One day I went up to see Leesburg. Went to the outlet mall for a bit, then explored the town. I had lunch in a wonderful restaurant on one of the main streets downtown that emulated the decor and food of an 18th century restaurant. Fortunately, they did have electricity, modern plumbing and that sort of thing. The food and ambience were excellent. I enjoyed my short time there.

(175,731 posts)I ended up driving through a subdivision of enormous houses, quite impressive looking and fairly new, but whatever idiot developed it had cut down the trees. The result was that it looked too raw for my tastes.
I also went to Middleburg, but somehow preferred Aldie.

(15,241 posts)Current WaPo article: https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/25/us/politics/esper-trump-defense-military.html
The challenge of managing White House pressures and concerns about morale inside the Pentagon confronts Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper, who is already in a precarious position with President Trump. Mr. Esper angered the president this month by breaking publicly with him over whether active-duty military troops should be sent to control the wave of protests in American cities.
Mr. Trumps first defense secretary, Mr. Mattis, ran afoul of the president on a number of issues, from deploying troops to the southwest border to the withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal to Mr. Trumps order to pull American troops out of Syria. The man Mr. Trump chose to succeed Mr. Mattis, Patrick M. Shanahan, only lasted six months before resigning amid an F.B.I. investigation into episodes of family violence.
Last November, Mr. Trump fired his Navy secretary, Richard V. Spencer, amid a dispute between the president and his own senior military leadership over the fate of a SEAL commando in a war crimes case.
In December, Randall Schriver, the assistant secretary of defense for Indo-Pacific affairs, resigned. In January, Eric Chewning, Mr. Espers chief of staff, followed suit. In February, the president fired Mr. Rood, who was part of the Pentagon team that told Congress that Ukraine had made the necessary changes to justify sending the country $250 million in promised security assistance. The certification undermined a key argument that Mr. Trumps defense team made during his impeachment battle: that the president withheld the aid because he was concerned about corruption in Ukraine.
In April, the acting Navy secretary, Thomas B. Modly, resigned after his efforts to appease Mr. Trump resulted in a bungled response to a coronavirus outbreak aboard the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, engulfing the Navy in a command crisis and a public relations disaster.
etc., etc.
Or The Borowitz report: https://www.newyorker.com/humor/borowitz-report/donald-trump-blasts-mark-milley-this-is-not-the-military-i-avoided-serving-in
Calling Milleys apology for appearing in last weeks controversial church photo op a disgrace, Trump said, The United States military of my youth was known for courage and valor, which is why I got a podiatrists note to get out of being a part of it.
Recalling that episode from a half century ago, Trump said, As I watched my podiatrist dictate that note, I thought about the great institution of the U.S. military, which I would be exempted from participating in. That institution is unrecognizable today.
With his apology, Trump claimed, Mark Milley has besmirched the memories of all the Americans who fought so hard to avoid fighting.
In his most caustic broadside against Milley, Trump questioned the generals ability to lead U.S. forces and said that he might have to find someone else to launch the American invasion of Seattle.

(17,431 posts)No twitter and canceled trip make me wonder what's up.
There is this in the schedule:
2:40PM THE PRESIDENT delivers remarks at the American Workforce Policy Advisory Board Meeting
East Room
In-House Pool
I'm waiting to see if this appearance happens and if not then wild speculation could ensue.
My tongue in check theory on what might be happening is that he is working on plans to give Florida to Cuba as well as Texas, New Mexico and Arizona to Mexico. This will improve the USA's Coronavirus numbers bigly.

(54,348 posts)He looked at map of the USA and said where is New York? Someone pointed it out to him. Then he asked, where is New Jersey? Someone pointed it out to him. "That's south of the border!" he shouted, "I'm not gonna speak to a bunch of Mexicans!"
And that was the end of his trip to New Jersey.
Someone will explain it to him when he has calmed down, and they will reschedule.
