Has your local 4th of July event been canceled? Come on down to Abilene Texas!

Yes! The 3rd annual Abilene Freedom Festival is still on! Come one, come all!

As a bonus Abilene announced today they are ignoring Governor Abbott’s order to shut down bars and limit outdoor gatherings!

So come and party your life away!

Abbott limited outdoor gatherings to 100 people. Big fireworks shows are pretty much cancelled across the state—except Abilene.

But I have to iron my socks, so I'm afraid I won't be able to make it.

And to answer your first question - yes. Our fabulous 4th of July parade with a City Band concert in the park and lots of awesome food - has indeed been cancelled. Even our fireworks are a no-go. I could see them from my back deck so I didn't have to deal with the traffic and parking and getting home late.

But not this year.

Our county still has fewer than 100 cases and we'd like to keep it that way, thank you.

So much pain and suffering. Because of owning liberals.

Seriously, I don't think I have ever seen anything more pitiful.

Abilene official says city will not enforce Gov. Abbott’s executive order on bars and restaurants
Published: Jun. 26, 2020 at 1:37 PM CDT

ABILENE, Texas (KOSA) - One Texas city says that it will not be enforcing Governor Greg Abbott’s latest executive order which shut down bars and reduced the maximum occupancy allowed at restaurants.

Abilene City Manager Robert Hanna shared this statement on Friday after Abbott’s order was announced:

“The City of Abilene under the advice of the City Attorney, will not enforce the Governor’s Executive Order, BUT we encourage all business owners and citizens to use common sense, and to follow the Governor’s Executive Orders to the extent they can. In regards to bars and restaurants, TABC will likely work to enforce the Governor’s Executive Order.”

But the TABC may suspend your liquor license.
