But there is no comparison between Nixon and Trump.

Nixon was FAR smarter than Trump and accomplished many important things like stronger relationships with China and Russia. He truly did love the US, but his flaw was the hubris he had in thinking his way, and his way alone, was the only correct one for the US. But he deeply cared about this country, coming from a very impoverished background and working his way to the top. He was slimy, tricky, and engaged in criminal behavior, but NOTHING like Trump.

Trump is a spy/agent for Russia by contrast. He is stupid, and not self-made in any way. He has also accomplished nothing for America, except for racists and xenophobes.

Although it might not have been central to his life, Nixon's criminality extended well beyond Watergate.

Was he as a damaged as Trump? Was he as stupid and self-centered? You're giving me a bar which is far, far too high

Besides the Pentagon Papers/Lewis Fielding break-in in 1971, tax issues, and Watergate, what other criminal behavior was Nixon a party to?

Nixon went behind LBJ's back and had the Vietnamese scuttle peace talks in 68 which could have ended the War. Nixon told Vietnam he'd get them a better deal. The war lasted another 5 years and cost how many lives?

So, yeah, that was Nixon's first crime BEFORE he even got into office. Funnily enough, that asshole Reagan did the exact same thing with Iran in the 1980 election.

Republicans are good at crime.

That is all that phrase means to conservatives.

We do need to abide by the social contract of not doing harm to each other, but conservative do not give a shit about that. They want any defiance of the "natural order" which means White people firmly in charge, crushed.

Also, rich White people make the rules. Like Nixon said, "If the president does it, it isn't illegal". Republicans went on to add, "Unless that President is a Black Democrat, then wearing a fucking tan suit is a scandal!!"
