Not being very successful. He moved there 2 years ago when he fell deeply in love with a young lady he met while visiting college friends. They are now engaged. We like her.
We live in Illinois. I was distraught when he announced he was moving so far away, and cried easily for weeks. That has abated, but I miss him terribly.
The COVID-19 stats out of Arizona have me terrified.

(937 posts)Everyone taking it more seriously. Just tell him to stay home as much as possible. The people who are testing positive were at the bars, restaurants, mega churches, and water parks maskless.

Hope your son wears a mask and stays safe.

Mask up, distance, isolate, forego social situations, be ultra careful. No matter what the other idiots are doing, there's no law that they have to go along with it.
You're a good mother.

He's lucky to have such a loving parent too!

(2,177 posts)seen more people with masks on in the last few days. I have only been out of the house 4 times since March, but I am lucky as I work from home. I went twice to the grocery, but I decided not to do that now and just order for delivery. At 66 with asthma and diabetes. I am terrified that if I catch this, they won't have any ICU beds available, and people won't be able to get proper treatment.

(257 posts)I deliver via Doordash and it seems like every single food establishment now has a sign on their door saying don't come in without a mask. I think that Arizona being on the national news is finally sinking into a lot of people. They also just find a whole bunch of clubs in Scottsdale for violating the social distancing requirements.

We live in Illinois, too.
Go ahead and freak out. I will join you.

(11,443 posts)And she is doing all she can. They have bought curbside groceries for months now, kids did online school and she has a choice to keep home in fall or not and she is keeping at home even though she starts new fulltime job working at home.
My son in law is military but they live off base in San Antonio. She tells me you cant get on base without a mask so at least military is being smart about it.
But I am still concerned, they take dogs for walk, go biking, kids are swimming at neighborhood pool. The pool part has me most concerned not for pool but getting close to other kids.
They only did it because her boys are 12 & 14 and been sitting in their rooms for 3 1/2 months and need exercise.

(29,322 posts)I live here and it isn't that bad if you stay inside & where a mask when you go out. If everyone lived like us the last 3 months this virus would be defeated.
