Lawmakers in Canada and Scotland have pointed to the US as an example of failed coronavirus containment

Sarah Al-Arshani 10 hours ago

• Several foreign lawmakers have taken jabs at the United States' failed coronavirus containment efforts.

• In Canada, Ontario Premier Doug Ford called the US response as "reckless."

• First Minister of Scotland Nicola Sturgeon used the US surging cases as a way to remind residents for the need to practice social distancing.

• The European Union is set to bar Americans from traveling to its member states due to its failed containment efforts on Friday, The New York Times reported.

• The US has the highest number of infections and deaths of any country with close to 2.5 million cases with almost 125,000 deaths as of June 26.

Mantle was one of the all time baseball greats who was one of the all time legendary boozers. The habit destroyed his health and led to his unfortunate early demise.

Canada and the USA got their first detected cases within days of each other.

Canada peaked in April with under 2,000 cases a day (there was a one day reporting anomaly with 2700 cases).

For comparison Canada has about 37,700,000 people (Florida has 21.5 million). Multiply Canadian figures by 9 to gauge proportionally with the US. So Canada peaked about 18,000 equivalent while the US was running about 25,000. Canada's daily new cases have steadily declined since then, but the US declined only a bit until it opened up and is now on a horrific run into the 40,000 daily new case load.

During this, the Canadian economy has been steadily and carefully opening up.
