Watch her reaction to being asked to wear a mask at Trader Joes. This level of outrage is tolerated by our society in that instance. What is the commensurate level of outrage for witnessing your people targeted, murdered & brutalized? Asking for a friend.

At Trader Joes here in Madison we have someone at the door, letting only a certain allotment of people in at a time and making sure everyone is masked.

Too bad. I was looking forward to seeing west siders watching this woman act out. Funny anyway, though.

(9,065 posts)It was fine living here until they built it up. It's a mess.
There's a TJ's down on Vine and Selma and I thought the video was going to be there. That's where I shop from time to time.
Hortensis
(58,785 posts)you're too "upscale" for us, mess or no.
We lived on Havenhurst just south of Santa Monica. I was still learning to drive when we moved there, so among my first lessons, of necessity, was how to make a left turn from a residential street straight across two lanes of suspicious and uncooperative bumper-to-bumper traffic, and then turning into a third, drivers even more determined not to let anyone in.
I even miss that! Inexcusably boorish ggression in our nearest GA city is not merging left with everyone else two blocks (true, I promise!) before the right lane ends.

(9,065 posts)I'm in a rent controlled building that has been converting apartments into short term rentals. I'm a street over from Beachwood above Franklin Ave. There's so much more crime here now.
I love that area of West Hollywood. My best friend is over in that neighborhood on Curson. And yes, learning to drive in L.A. is tricky but I think it makes you a better driver overall due to the intensity of traffic and idiotic maneuvers.
When I travel back home to Kansas City MO I always get a rush when driving and have to ease of the gas. It's amazing how nice it is to drive in smaller cities but also maddening that people drive like crap not realizing just how good they have it...traffic-wise. People being people, I guess.
I've thought about moving out of here one day but can't figure out where I would want to go.
Hortensis

(58,785 posts)didn't have before, online sources, like City-Data, forums for our enthusiasms, microdemographic data, etc. I can know a great deal about plant nurseries and types of garden/environmental clubs, whether a town offers free concerts every summer to everyone, and how active the local Democratic headquarters is without even leaving home. Used to be new and used bookstores was a valuable clue, but not nearly so much now.
A pair of sisters from Turkey I should have visited but never did told me that in Turkey the saying is that one shops first for one's neighbors.
Stay safe.

(113,205 posts)Watching the screaming, hysterical, over-the top outrage at being asked to wear masks tells me that something else is going on. These maroons have to KNOW that they are being filmed. It is as if they are mugging for the cameras, like they are in some contest where there are prizes for the most violent, insane, outrageous behaviour. A reichwing version of Pokemon go or something.

(7,490 posts)I have a friend in the small city we live in who had to put up with a five-minute rant outside her little shop because they require facemasks. The idiot stood outside her door in an inside mall screaming about what all these morons scream about - what they hear on Faux and other propaganda outlets or hear from the orange anus. She said she just sat there ignoring him and near the end, a couple came in who did not have masks but agreed to wear the disposable ones they give out. That couple then spent about $500.
We see the videos like this one but my feeling is this insane behavior is much more widespread than that coming from a few videos. These people are in a cult and feel free to act anyway they want because they have been given false info as truth and given permission from their cult leaders to act on it.

(5,810 posts)is that these people walk among us. In some states they could be armed. Their temper seems to go from zero to 85 in a nano second. I get that they have been influenced by a variety of online sources that have poisoned their minds and apparently erased all common sense from their brain matter. Many really do believe the Covid -19 pandemic is a hoax. Meanwhile, the pandemic carries on regardless of what they believe. We need help from mental health experts to deal with these folks who are causing problems everywhere. Sooner or later, I fully expect it to escalate to violence. No one that Ive heard has said one word about what we do with those who refuse to believe the pandemic is real and who could make a bad situation even worse.

(8,030 posts)it seems like this was staged. I live in Redondo Beach, CA (which is basically part of L.A. because we all blend in together - I'm just off of the 405). Anyway, as I posted elsewhere on this thread there is NO WAY WHAT-SO-EVER she didn't know it's required in these parts to wear an effing mask! I was at my Trader's earlier in the week and there was a line (that moved quickly), a young man at the door with disinfectant, and every single person in the store had on their masks.
The question I have is why? Does this behavior somehow empower their "cause?" I guess to other "fringe" and "cult-like" dt supporters it does but for reasonable people it makes "that side" look ridiculous. In fact, it may even make people on the fence (even though I don't know if there are still fence-sitters during this unbelievable time) be more inclined to rethink their positions...I SERIOUSLY don't understand....
