(20,868 posts)Feb. 2, 2020 is the magic date, the date that the first corona virus case was found outside of China.
Here we are 5 mos. later = 2,000,000 deaths a month sans China (will we ever know the reality w/China?).
Anyway, if it goes on as it is right now, we'll have another 24,000,000 dead by Xmas or 34,000,000+ (1/10th of the pop. of the USA) worldwide.
If this doesn't depress the shit out of you, well toss me some of those magic happy pills you are taking!

(21,621 posts)50 years ago, they had fewer than 1.4 billion between them (838 million in China; 543 million in India).
Now they have about that many each - and India will soon overtake China as the world's most populous nation.
Plus, because of economic growth, they emit a lot more greenhouse gases than in 1970.

It's amazing how few people are aware or this milestone. To think that in a few months, we'll be talking about a 100 million cases.
I hope I'm wrong about that.
