people who would have gotten sick and recovered would be lessened as well. That's less people in hospitals, missing work, or having long painful recoveries.

It's not just life, it's quality of life.

does to a person. Just that some weird symptoms go on even after someone has recovered.

Is it because there isn't enough evidence yet, or just that no one wants more bad news?

in early March like a normal head of state, our death count would be comparable to that of South Korea, or New Zealand of Vietnam—under 10k.

they didn't want the public to buy up the masks the first responders and hospital workers needed. I think those countries got covid first so it was easier to get masks and maybe there were not shortages so much. Be that as it may, by april they recommended masks and Trump was even thinking of selling masks with his logo on it, tilll something happened. Maybe it was the business community, maybe Trump was led by his racist base's thirst for blood in northern states who were more affected and of course black communities. Maybe it was something else horrible. Trump is not supposed to be led by his base. They should not be leading anything as they are being sorely used and diminished as people by the GOP. But so it goes in Trump world. The base craves some 'action' in a bonding moment with him and so Trump no longer reccommends the one thing that can stop you from getting coronavirus by 75%. But you are correct, if Trump had ordered people to wear masks in april we would not be where we are now.

would never have been short of masks. This nation can send probes to Jupiter and Saturn and is certainly capable of producing not just N95 masks for medical personnel but cloth face masks for everyday citizens. He was/is just not up to the job.

Obama, even Bush and of course Clinton would've ramped up production of masks as soon as they assessed the situation. They also had much more capable staff to help than the sycophants trump picks.

No way should there have been a mask shortage of any length.
