Had my own "karen" moment today...as a white woman...?

Had a little "karen" interaction today as well...

Had to go to Carson City for a job thing.
I always get nervous going to Nevada cuz of (them and open-carry) and my Bernie sticker and the kids recently wrote #BLM on my back window in the pollen too

Well I didn't get the chance to actually HEAR what she was ranting, but she was VERY animated in the passenger seat of her Lexus as she shook her fist and pointed her finger at my bumper and was apparently really angry and upset that I am a Librul Socialist Hippie or some shit *eyeroll*

WHY so much HATE!!?? dayum!

it's really sad and this country is going to have some serious healing to accomplish ... <3
It's terrifying that these people and their inner demons feel so emboldened by the Hater-in-Chief

1. Try my trick. Although it makes them even more angry.

And this has not ever been about politics but my driving. On the rare occasion someone in a vehicle flips you off or anything, put on a big smile and wave. It drives the crazy to see their anger met with laughter.

Of course I’m a decent sized white guy in a truck with a tool chest in the bed and offshore fishing sticker on the back window. Oh, and I let the wife who loves fishing pick it out. So I have a pink fishing sticker on my truck! It makes me happy.

On edit. I realized I said ‘let the wife’ which is not accurate and insulting to her. Picked it out and told me if we are having a sticker it is going to be pink. I don’t have the power to “let” my wife do anything.

12. In my household, I make the big decisions

And the wonderful woman to whom I am married makes the small decisions

And she decides what is a big decision, and what is a small decision.

I am also reliably informed that I am an extraordinarily happy man!

...a woman say “the husband?” I never have. It sounds so impersonal.

5. It's funny because a lot of men say it. And I don't think they mean anything derogatory by it.

I was only married for a short time but I remember realizing that there was me, him, our relationship and this damn legal thing called a marriage. I didn't like it. There were the expectations put on me because I was now a "wife"

Maybe if I had a different husband I would have liked it. Who knows.

8. Well it our relationship and she is fine with it. Likes it because she knows the reason.

I just felt saying ‘my wife’ sounded possessive. I don’t own her. Had a coworker early in my career who explained that to me and it made sense. The wife liked it. Our business, not yours.

We are equally successful professionally and she was way more successful when we met.

33 years ago. She took a chance on a cocky kid. I love her more than myself.

No one gives the wife shit and get away with it. I respect her more than anyone I have ever met. And that includes my own parents who are and were great people.

Our relationship is fine.

4. I've done the same thing.

A couple of times at the grocery store parking lot, same one both times, people saying something about my bumper stickers. I smiled and waved and said "thanks!" and acted like they said they LIKED my bumper stickers. It drives them crazy. By the time they are correcting my perception, I am in the car and backing up, still smiling at them.

13. Big smile, flash a peace sign, move on

If they weren't triggered enough before, that usually puts them over the edge. If I ever have to explain it to a cop, I've decided to say that I'm a little hard of hearing, officer, this person seemed excited about something, so I smiled and flashed the peace sign.
