No Coronavirus 'Spike' from Protests

States in the South and West that reopened their economies early and with few precautions are now grappling with huge surges in daily case counts, hospitalizations, and deaths.

Yet Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and other cities across the country have not seen the sharp, sustained spikes that were expected after hundreds of thousands of people gathered for protests against police brutality.

Masks are the key.

The Missouri Great Clips was indoor but everyone was masked. No transmission of the virus from the infected hair stylists.

8. These places did what was needed earlier to diminish community spread.

If the virus is deprived of hosts, community spread must stop. People who think it's a hoax don't make any effort to deprive the virus of hosts and thus don't experience waves -- it's just a spike and a plateau.
