"The way a bar is set up technically, doesn't work with a pandemic."

Quote from, I believe, Texas governor Gregg Abbot about the business openings that are now causing increase cases of Covid. He is actually seeing the error of his decision.

Republicans don't learn from science or technical reports. They learn from hard, avoidable lessons. How did he think he was going to avoid the increased infection rates and the death rates? He probably would plow through it if not for an alarmed public that threatens his poll numbers. And believe me, if their poll numbers weren't affected, they probably wouldn't learn a lesson at all.

Now IF a church is being responsible and putting a lot of space between people, forgoing singing, asking everyone to wear masks, and reworking communion and offerings so there is no physical contact, it might be OK. That's a really big IF though, and if all of that is in place I don't see how in the in-person experience is any better than watching it online.

1. People call in or email to indicate if they are attending one of two services.
2. Ushers block off every other pew, and seat parishoners.
3. No congregational singing, even though everyone is required to wear a mask. Only soloists will sing.
4. Hand sanitizer everywhere.
5. Parishoners are requested to use their own bathroom facilities before attending the service.
6. Ushers will dismiss each row when the service is over.
7. The offering plates are situated outside the sanctuary.
8. Ministers will not be at exits to greet or visit or shake hands with parishoners.
9. Everyone is encouraged to use social distancing and not hang out in the parking lot after the service.
10. The services will remain online.

I still get emails from 2 churches I have attended in the past and they look like they are doing the same kinds of things your church is doing. But I do suspect there are a lot of churches not being so diligent.

Sound argumentative. Our church pretends to be conservative, but they sure act like liberals. They know know COVID-19 is deadly, and they don't want to expose the elderly to it. I am certain there are plenty of mega churches and fundamentalists that won't implement safety measures.

But, I would like to hear the quote again just to be sure he said "technically"
