(23,091 posts)He is involved with the Astra/Zeneca UK effort. Pray it is another group that comes up with a vaccine first - how could anyone trust any thing at all that drumpf is involved in since the FDA is filled with his sycophants who would greenlight anything he told them to - at least at first. So reason #1 is CV19 & community spread and reason #2 is idiots who follow the traitor and are as stupid as he is, or nearly so.

(15,082 posts)We still don't have one for AIDS. More likely that someone will come up with an effective treatment.
I agree that I won't be standing in line for a Trump branded vaccine.

(15,713 posts)it had a high mutation rate.
cstanleytech
(26,281 posts)developing a vaccine should be feasible for this.
That does not mean it will not need to be updated though as that depends on how the well the virus can mutate to counter the effectiveness of such a vaccine.

(26,281 posts)Even if those antibodies do fade though that does not rule out a vaccine being developed though it's usefulness might be reduced to helping keep outbreaks from getting to bad.

(64,995 posts)I don't think that study was conclusive.
Small sample size and no direct comparison to flu viruses.
Since flu virus antibodies typically last only 6 months, how different is covid really?
Maybe very different. Maybe almost the same.
We don't know, and that one limited study doesn't tell me much.

(23,091 posts)There are so many unknowns with this weird virus, we need researchers everywhere studying this to give us any chance of beating it.

(24,259 posts)I have zero sympathy for such Cult45er covidiot assholery. jewellery. If it were something truly protected by the constitution I'd defend their right to be an idiot but it.is.NOT.
Even if it were protected, your 'rights' come with certain responsibilities and end when you jeopardise the safety and health of others.

Question is can they keep it up long enough for the vaccine to be developed? After all eventually they are going to have to lower the travel barriers otherwise their economies will sink from recession into depression which is a lot harder to crawl out from under.

(32,626 posts)restrictions. Allowing travel from other countries that have flattened the curve. Not the U.S., but I guess the pic from the plane explains why the U.S. will not be allowed in their country. Lifting restrictions when the data supports it might be better for their economy in the long run. Their priorities are obviously very different from the U.S. They won't even supply the U.S. with chemical weapons, or rubber bullets.

(11,518 posts)FUCK all the people who refuse to wear a mask properly, they obviously don't give a rats ass about anyone except themselves.
"OOOOOHHHH, I'm gonna' be macho and not wear a mask"

(32,626 posts)the elastic wears out, the top of the mask slides down and hangs right at the tip of his nose for a while and gravity does it's thing. I make masks for him now, which fit much better, and he doesn't have that problem. It's not always about bad people refusing to wear a mask properly.
ProfessorGAC
(64,995 posts)My masks fit ok, but one is a bit tighter.
The looser one, I have found stays in place if I remove my glasses, the place the nose pads onto the cloth.
Keeps the mask from slipping really well.
Only works, of course, if one wears glasses!
stillcool
(32,626 posts)I think he may do that as well, because it stops his glasses from fogging up.

Ten to one, he beats her. He's never going to truly love you young lady. Nothing you will ever do will be enough for him. Love requires respect, and while he may lust after the "otherness" of your skin, he will always hate you for it too.

(32,626 posts)all those people at the Trump gig, and two people had a mask on, another two had them hanging from their ears. If it weren't for those few, you would think this was from pre-covid-time.

(21,432 posts)Went to our local farmer's market. In past years, people grouped closely at various booths, stood in groups chatting, brought their dogs, and handled produce when choosing.
But signs at the entrance prohibited all those things and required masks. So far, so good.
But at my favorite farm's booth, the person doing the selling had pushed her mask down to her neck while chatting with a friend. From outside the booth, I overheard her say how she had been sick a long time, took several meds, and still felt a bit tired. Don't know what she had, but steered clear of her and her booth, even though it was outdoors.
There's a small park next to the market. I saw groups seated very closely at the park's tables, eating things they had just bought. No masks, of course, while eating.
Chose my items quickly and left.
