As long as he's in office, he's a danger to the American people. Further investigations by the House would result in nothing since we know that Senate Republicans won't do anything. Any agency investigations by any IG won't matter because Trump will fire them. The courts cannot be relied upon because Barr will intervene. Finally, waiting until the elections in the Fall will only result in more Americans dying because of the virus and in Afghanistan or whatever else. Even if he loses, he'll still have 2 months to do even more damage.
The best path for us is a national chorus of voices demanding his resignation. Our energies should be focused on that instead of chasing down every new scandal.

(15,084 posts)His ego won't let him. Plus, and perhaps more importantly, he fears those New York indictments that are waiting for him to walk out of the White House. He knows full well that he's a crook.
The Republicans in the Senate are the only ones who might be able to convince him to step down, but they are afraid of his magic Twitter machine.
Wish we could get rid of him today, but I don't think it will happen.

Democrats running for Office are on this and they will pounce with a veracious assault that Republicans down ballot will not be able to shake off.

(11,861 posts)I wish I had a dime for every time I've bee chided about calling for resignation when we all know that he will not resign. I would not be so sure.
I think he knows that he will not win and the last thing he will allow history to brand him as is a LOSER.
It is about changing the narrative. Every time a Democrat gets in front of a mic it must be RESIGN. Every time a reporter confronts a republican it must be SHOULD DT RESIGN?
Jeebus... they(GOP and MSM) banged the resignation drum 24/7 over the Clinton BJ. Enough already.

(3,401 posts)This man has no respect for our laws, regulations and rules of ethics as he feels that none of that applies to him. He wouldnt leave office if all 100 US senators walked in and demanded it tagging along the entire Supreme Court to say the same.
Since impeachment didnt work I dont think there are any avenues to achieve this other than a military coup, which is more damaging for Democracy.
Just work like hell volunteering door to door campaigning to get him and his cronies voted out.

(55 posts)Im agnostic if Trump resigns and Pence takes office. Both are total disasters on COVID, racial/community tensions, and the economy.
On an unrelated note, I really dont care about these new anti Trump folks on the GOP side (Romney/Mattis/Kelly/Bush 2/Bolton). They are responsible for so many of Trumps policies, and the GOP as a whole is an incompetent party. Merely opposing Trump does not redeem you.

(43,049 posts)a few other Republican gods cornered him and convinced him he would lose the coming impeachment. At that point he had almost no Republican support.
This Republican Senate has no one of talk straight to him. And certainly no one he respects.

(2,065 posts)After one month of social unrest and the BLM that included people of all races standing side by side for racial equality and an end to police brutality against POC, Trump retweeted an old white guy in The Villages shouting white power!!?? This cannot go on another day!
