Democratic Mayor Lyda Krewson/St Louis broadcasted names, addresses of 'defund police' supporters

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/amp/ncna1232337

The mayor of St. Louis is facing backlash for reading aloud during a public briefing the full names and street addresses of protesters who are calling on the city to defund the police department.

The mayor responded that the conversation “wasn’t really a two-way conversation… because there was a very loud response from the demonstrators," NBC's affiliate in St. Louis, Missouri KSDK reported.

But protesters had given her written outlines of their proposals for how the city could better allocate money that now goes to the police department, and Krewson stepped away from the camera to grab the papers from her desk as the briefing was still streaming live.

The mayor started reading the suggestions out loud, including giving out the first and last names of the writers, as well as the streets where they live.
In some instances, she gave people's exact addresses, KSDK reported.
Many of the proposals suggested that the city should budget zero dollars for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

During the Facebook Live video, which has since been deleted, Krewson said multiple times that she is against defunding the police, according to KSDK.

I agree. Don't defund, instead better manage. St. Louis just finally got control of its police... SWBTATTReg Jun 2020 #1
Yeah, that doesn't sound like state intimidation at all. WhiskeyGrinder Jun 2020 #2

department after the state of MO finally gave up control (in 2013) of the STLMO police department to the City of STLMO (the state took control of the city's police department in 1861 to thwart pro Union forces in STLMO).

The mayor was wrong to broadcast names and addresses, she has admitted this and has apologized.

In difficult times, I will side w/ the mayor. She has been with a force for change in the city for many years, and I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. The KCMO police department is still controlled by the state board but they will soon vote soon on restoring control of the KCMO police department to the city (Kansas City, MO).

That was a complete failure. Why would anyone do it.
Not helpful in any way & guess she will have to answer for it.
