Note: This is the best that I can do. If you can't see it it ain't my fault.

(6,042 posts)He has probably lost them all.
The Republican party "establishment" is confident they can play defense again for 4 years while Dems clean up the social and economic disaster. They are good at it.
They will try to win however and there is chance they can if they stop the bleeding of the suburban womens vote and paint Biden as weak on Russia.
So Romney could be their substitute candidate.

(15,074 posts)But the Trumpers would HOWL because of his vote to remove their boy from office. Don't know how they will sell Mitt to the base.

(21,417 posts)watch how fast the Lincoln Project members turn their ad skills against Biden.
Romney could not carry Trump's base. He could get other Republicans and some independents. Enough to win? Maybe.
We would need to remind the voters of things pointed out about Romney in 2012. His behavior as a bully in school. His role in hostile takeovers of businesses and running them into the ground, putting people out of jobs. Plus, his comments about poor people not carrying their weight.
And watch out for phony "dirt" about Biden. Romney is not above pushing the Trump lies about Biden and his son in Ukraine. Romney would have Lincoln ad makers on his side.
A much tighter race if Romney runs. Biden's VP choice will be very important.

(21,417 posts)I was hoping somebody would come up with a good argument that I had not thought of for why Romney would not be much competition for Biden.
On edit: Just want to add that at least Biden can get some advice and mentoring from Obama on how to handle Romney. We'll have to attack Romney hard on all the right points.

(90,616 posts)And yes, I can certainly see & hear it. So Carville thinks theres a 50/50 chance Trump wont run? And that tomorrow will be the worst day hes ever had? Sweet music to my ears.

(9,958 posts)One of his worst fears is being a loser. As many people as possible need to start calling him a loser. That might be enough to send him over the edge. Hes probably close.

(19,558 posts)The stakes are way too high for him as far as his crimes are concerned.
I get that these people are baiting him to leave, but his kids won't permit him to cut and run. They're relying on him protecting him legally, because they're scared America is out to get him when he's out from under Barr's protective hands. Which we are.
This one won't be forgiven for the sake of unity of the nation. We've learned that lesson the hard way and we're not allowing these a**holes to continue on as before.
This is a whole new level of corruption and the people are pissed the hell off about Covid this round. They're feeling vengeful this cycle in a way they never did collectively like this before. Probably, ever. They're going to demand he pay the piper. Watch and see.

(19,558 posts)It'll be fun watching them twist themselves into knots explaining to their constituents how they were blocked from the facts. But, it's coming. Several will be protected by the now "never Trumpers" fighting him. By design.
I'd like to say, I still support the Never Trumper RW who are going after him currently. The enemy of my enemy is still my friend. I just hope they know we're breaking up after the election. Which I'm positive they already know and it's a baked in reality.
