Videos from the protest showed the man pointing a semi-automatic rifle and a woman pointing a pistol at the crowd marching down the street. The videos circulated widely on social media Sunday night.
The protest, which was organized by Expect Us, started near the intersection of Maryland Plaza and North Euclid Avenue, and stopped at Krewson's home before heading toward the Delmar Loop.
The protest came two days after a Facebook Live news briefing in which Krewson read the names and street addresses of protesters who are calling on the city to defund the police department, a move which the ACLU called "shocking and misguided" and resulted in online backlash. An online petition started over the weekend calling for her to resign has more than 40,000 signatures.

The mayor needs to be hit with a massive lawsuit.

(3,282 posts)it also probably assault especially when it's just somebody walking down the sidewalk, large group or not.
The woman didn't look like she had any idea of how to handle that weapon. She also had her finger on the trigger and was pointing it randomly at the crowd. It could have easily discharged and killed somebody. The man wasn't much better, he looked to have his finger off the trigger, but he was also not only pointing it at the crowd, but he also swept the woman with it a couple times as well.
Calista241
(5,610 posts)They could still be prosecuted for brandishing, but it's far from a sure conviction. Missouri is an open carry state, and just carrying a rifle or pistol around is not a crime.
The woman may be in more legal jeopardy, because she pointed her weapon directly at protesters while coming further from their home to confront them.

There isn't a home in the entire town that is a third that size.
There should be 20 or 30 if it was 1%, figure 2 or 3 people per home on average.
Our house would almost fit in that living room!

NutmegYankee
(16,363 posts)Castle doctrine is defense of the home from someone breaking in. You can't claim it standing on the lawn pointing a gun at people. That was a crime.
Calista241
(5,610 posts)to get where they were in front of this house. Castle doctrine may well apply, but I tend to suspect that she is in more legal jeopardy than he is.
NutmegYankee
(16,363 posts)This might be covered by one of the ALEC's Stand Your Ground laws which cover yards and other places, but castle doctrine as understood for the last 1000 years does not apply. People mix those two up and it pisses me off. Defending yourself inside a home is proper and natural. Standing in a yard pointing guns is not proper.
