How many months later and that is still fucking bullshit? My sister and her son went to get tested this morning and were told our county is out of tests. She called another testing site that confirmed the information. They have absolutely no idea when more tests will arrive. There is no schedule, a truck shows up when a truck shows up.
Let's put this in greater perspective. We're in Florida in a county that began spiking 10 days ago thanks to all the shit our county "leaders" allowed to happen over the Memorial Day weekend and the fact they have done fuck all to contain our community. The approaching holiday weekend fills me with dread. Too many dumb asses around here.
ETA: Not only have cases skyrocketed, our positivity rate has tripled. Sadly, too many people, including those in positions of authority, have no grasp of what that means.

(16,903 posts)We are in Dominican Republic and have an average of 600-700 new cases a day, yet the government has announced that they are opening our borders again so we can be infested with MAGATS in our hotels etc.
Were quarantined in a huge house, over 3,000 sq feet, and are staying put.
I bet there is another lockdown in 3 weeks.

(23,542 posts)I would think if anyone who wanted a test could get one the rate would be lower.
Here in Illinois we stopped relying on the feds and our state government bought the testing. Now you don't have to be symptomatic to get tested from the Chicago Tribune:
Chicago, in partnership with the charity Community Organized Relief Effort Response, was set to offer mobile coronavirus testing in the Park Manor and Heart of Chicago neighborhoods Monday, according to the mayors office.
Mobile testing was scheduled to be available at Martin Temple AME Zion Church, 6930 S. Cottage Grove Ave., in the Park Manor neighborhood, just south of Woodlawn, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and at Health Hood Chicago, 2242 S. Damen Ave., from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Heart of Chicago neighborhood west of Pilsen.
Food giveaways also will be available at both sites, according to a release from the mayors office.
The tests are free from any residents and No questions will be asked about citizenship status, and no documentation related to citizenship will be requested, according to the release.

That said we have opened restaurants to 1/4 capacity because our percents are low. Our governor is following science. I hope it works. Our new cases are slowly rising so I'm not that optimisitic.

(24,653 posts)Testing guidelines have not changed enough to account for it. You don't have to be symptomatic here to get a test.

(23,099 posts)Anyone who came 8 min. or later from the opening time were turned away. Jacksonville had almost 800 new cases on Sat. Trump has cut funding for two walk in testing sites, and shuttered this one for a couple of days. They say CVS will do testing, but they certainly aren't at any of the places near me. They have posted signs to call CVS corporate to find a testing location - wonder how far away it is or if it's even open at all?

(24,653 posts)Were wondering what it was until we passed it and saw the COVID Testing Site sign by the road. Definite "doh!" moment.

Many give up.

(23,099 posts)It was 95 degrees with 85% humidity. Read in the newspaper, they told people without air conditioners to get out of line because it was too big of a health risk.

(23,099 posts)Over 200 city firefighters sent letter to DeSantis,Curry and drumpf asking them not to have this, especially not indoors without masks being required, but it will be totally ignored. Even my repug friend is leaving the city for the week to escape the madness and my husband is taking off work that week. We will hunker down, except my sister and I feel compelled to protest against him - but only during the day, social distancing or leaving if not possible, and wearing masks. This is only if the redneck trumpers don't get violent, we are too old and infirm to run fast or far.
I am already grieving for my city and all the people that will get sick for assmouths' vanity and murderous impulses.

(23,099 posts)I didn't go there, my parents wouldn't pay for me to go to school & march (this was during Vietnam) & I didn't know anything about grants etc. back then. But I grew up a FL Gators fan and that has never left me. I even worked for the University of FL Physicians in Jacksonville for 20 years, lol. I am very happy they got Mullen as their coach, looking forward to good things when football can be played safely again.
chanting - It's great to be a Florida Gator~
