Yeah well, he may have seen the physical paper, but if words were involved, he didn't pay any attention. Of course, it is very likely Trump DID know, but did nothing about it. That would fit his pattern of appeasing Putin.

But with his ego, he'd probably rather be thought treasonous than incompetent. Even if incompetence was his "get out of jail free" card.

Incompetence implies weakness. At least a traitor could be perceived to be "strong and powerful" (he loves those words and uses them a lot, often incorrectly).

It could use doubling.

How about every time our commandos reported another bounty believed collected on a young soldier's life? At VERY least bundled reports several times over the months since January.

In a tweet late Sunday night, President Trump said the intelligence community told him he was not briefed about allegations Russia had offered the Taliban bounty payments to kill Western forces — including U.S. troops — because it did not find the reports credible.

Intel just reported to me that they did not find this info credible, and therefore did not report it to me or @VP. Possibly another fabricated Russia Hoax, maybe by the Fake News @nytimesbooks, wanting to make Republicans look bad!!! https://t.co/cowOmP7T1S

"Intel just reported to me that they did not find this info credible, and therefore did not report it to me or @VP. Possibly another fabricated Russia Hoax, maybe by the Fake News @nytimesbooks, wanting to make Republicans look bad!!!", the president tweeted.

The tweet reaffirmed an earlier denial by the president of a New York Times report that intelligence officials had briefed him on the allegations of malign Russian activity in Afghanistan.

The Washington Post reported Sunday night that the bounties are "believed to have resulted in the deaths of several U.S. service members," a conclusion based on interviews with captured militants.

Republicans were willing to let Trump continue his corruption by refusing to convict and remove him. Now that he has acquiesced to the murder-for-hire of US troops, do they have any qualms left about continuing to support this traitor? Of course not. They’ll demand a few answers and then support a party lie that Trump actually told Putin to stop and the fake media has the story all wrong. Whoever wins the Democratic primary in Kentucky needs to hang this around McConnell’s neck because f his unconditional support for anything Trump does—or in this case does not do. Kentucky has two large Army bases, Ft. Knox and Ft. Campbell. Many soldiers have deployed from Ft. Campbell to Afghanistan. I can see a really effective ad with Ft. Campbell soldiers being loaded into a transport plane, then a news clip from ABC or another nightly program abut the bounty on US soldiers to McConnell’s smirk about the Senate trial and finally to Trump saying he took no responsibility.

Republicans need to demand Trump’s resignation as those who still had some honor did in Nixon’s day.

the normal, legitimate tools of public and congressional oversight are not effective against a WH, DOJ, and Senate which will use their full powers to ignore and/or counter them?

DUrs recognize that even the integrity of the 2020 election is at stake...why would the WH and McConnell worry about a House hearing? Why would they worry about scandal number 247, when all the preceeding scandals (including illegal fixing of the 2016 election via treason) haven't gone anywhere?

This is serious, and unfortunately it's going to take goprs to break ranks and pull the plug. It's unclear if that will happen.
