There have been a string of major 5-4 victories in which he has ruled correctly.

The gist of it was that Roberts will try to prevent a large fissure between the prevailing reasonable sentiment of the country as a whole and the decisions of the Court.

When he was first appointed I feared the worst from him. I’m sure there will be many rulings to come that are damaging (see Citizens United) but we have to acknowledge the good ones when we can.

“THE CHIEF JUSTICE agreed that abortion providers ... have
standing ... and concluded that because Louisiana’s Act 620 imposes a burden on access to abortion just as severe as that imposed by the nearly identical TX law invalidated four years ago in Whole Woman’s Health...

... it cannot stand under principles of stare decisis.”

Wowwwww. I hope everyone appreciates what a skin-of-the-teeth thing this was.

Alito's dissenting opinion is joined in bits and pieces by Gorsuch, Thomas, and Kavanaugh. Here's the playbill:
JUSTICE ALITO, with whom JUSTICE GORSUCH joins, with whom JUSTICE THOMAS joins except as to Parts III–C and IV–F, and with whom JUSTICE KAVANAUGH joins as to Parts I, II, and III, dissenting.

The evangelicals made a deal with the devil (aka Trump) to get the Supreme Court results that they wanted. I wonder how many of them are going to tune out given that a number of recent results have not gone their way...

Trump will just say this means they need more republican supreme court justices to overturn it next time.

The two justices that Trump appointed voted to ban abortions. That's what they wanted. I don't see them deserting Trump, but rather has more reasons to support him so they will have more justices and eventually ban abortion.

They don't think they made a deal with the devil at all. They think Trump is God's own hand-picked president, put in office by God to implement his will, and that opposition to Trump is the same as opposition to God. Thousands of churches have been preaching this gospel for years now, that support for Trump is essentially a tenet of their Christian faith. They'll likely conclude that the forces of Satan are working through the members of the Court to attack Trump, or that God is testing their faith, or some such nutty thing. What they won't do is turn on him over this, not in any significant numbers.

If the God of the Christian Bible was going to hand-choose a president to implement His Will, that president would be more like Barack Obama - a good, God-fearing, church-attending and incorruptible man.

The God of the Christian Bible certainly wouldn’t have chosen someone with Mafia ties to be his herald on earth.

The Bible is stuffed with stories about terrible men, who did much worse things than Trump has ever dreamed of doing, whom God put into positions of great power over others, and showered with his favor and his blessings. It's not the least bit out of character for the God described in the Bible to pick someone like Trump to rule over people.

If you want to know what the God of the Christian Bible does with a good, God-fearing, church-attending and incorruptible man, read the story of Job.
