While the majority of Americans say they are wearing masks when they go out in public, some states have taken more stringent measures to ensure that's the case during the coronavirus pandemic.
Of the 50 states, 46 either require masks to be worn statewide or have some sort of requirement in certain locales, according to Masks4All, a volunteer organization that advocates for more mask-wearing.
The most strict mask requirement involves citizens wearing a mask outside at all times when social distancing isn't possible, with an emphasis on grocery stores and public transportation. Eighteen states, and Puerto Rico and Washington, D.C., fall under this category.

Four states Iowa, Montana, Wisconsin, South Dakota have no mask requirements at all.

I'm curious if they're actually wearing masks? I can imagine the owners and managers not actually enforcing it at that place. And it's not like many outsiders would observe it, since it's a factory and not a restaurant.
Edit: I'm glad that masks are at least "required" by employees, though. I'm sure we'd have even bigger growth in cases without it.

(23,091 posts)What do they have in common - every single fucking state with this problem is one where masks aren't required. PUtting FL purple is misleading, only Miami and the Keys have mask requirements established by their mayors, no other places in the entire state have this requirement and beaches are open everywhere but in Miami and Ft. Lauderdale with no controls for social distancing.

(86,537 posts)There have been lots folks not wearing masks over all. A friends stopped by yesterday after visiting a grocery store and said they were impressed that everyone in the store was covered and keeping their distance. We've been fortunate to not have many cases, none current in our county but we have tourists in abundance and are adjacent to a county that is a hot spot. Since the numbers have jumped recently, I think people are getting concerned enough to wear a mask without being told to.
