REHOBOTH BEACH, Md. (WJZ) –– Delaware Health officials are asking anyone who recently went to Rehoboth or Dewey beaches, or who live there, to get a coronavirus test after over 100 cases of COVID-19 were confirmed in the area.

The Delaware Division of Public Health reported that after conducting coronavirus test in the area, 100 people in Rehoboth and over a dozen people in Dewey tested positive for the virus.

“We are extremely concerned by yet another cluster of COVID-19 cases in the beach area and the potential for spread to others both at work and in social gatherings,”
said DPH Director Dr. Karyl Rattay.

“We know that some of the positive persons have been at parties recently, potentially transmitting the virus to others who may still be here or may have returned to their homes in other counties or states.”

Honestly, that level of self righteousness is the epitome of 'cult'. God's not saving anyone if they don't apply the tools he's given. That's probably somewhere in the bible.

other than economics.

Apparently the seasonal staff are getting hit and thus based on their contacts, they have to do a 14-day quarantine that then cuts remaining staff quite a bit or not enough to remain open.

After reopening, some Delaware beach restaurants are reclosing due to coronavirus surge

Some Delaware beach restaurants are limiting and even closing their operations due to an outbreak of new coronavirus cases in the resort area. Tourists have been flooding the beach towns of Rehoboth and Dewey, and even more crowds are expected as the busy Fourth of July weekend gets underway.

And as more people get tested – teens who celebrated senior week, restaurant and bar workers, other beachgoers – more cases are being found. But if places like The Starboard in Dewey hadn't closed for a few days to do a full suite of testing among employees, they might not have known that employees had the coronavirus.

In the case of The Starboard, everyone who tested positive for the coronavirus over the weekend was also asymptomatic, owner Steve Montgomery said. “It worked for the right reasons,” Montgomery said. “Those people are now out for 14 days.”

we have many here who go down to the Delaware beaches as an alternate to going to the South Jersey beaches, so it is a concern here about people going down there and bringing anything back here.

I went to the Delaware beaches 3x this summer. HOWEVER....I go later in the afternoon (I can't deal with the blazing sun) and at the State Parks, where the crowds haven't looked anything like the pix. The parks are also limiting access. I've been able to stay far away from most folks and I haven't gone in any establishments down there. I've brought food or gotten take out and eaten at an outside picnic table. And I made one trip into Rehoboth (again later than the crowds peak) for Thrasher's fries, but we kept our masks on while in line, social distanced, then found our own crowd-free space to eat them. Then we left.

I think the timing is crucial.
