I think the buzz about Dufus dropping out is nothing more than an attempt to distract from Bountygate.
Change my mind.

(82,849 posts)But a little counter-argument jiu jitsu may be in order, using the weight of these rumors (Trump dropping out, resigning, being replaced on the ticket by the party) to their disadvantage. This is a dicey little gambit, if it's just meant as a distraction. We can get behind the rumors and start pressing for serious response from Republicans: Make your case that Trump shouldn't resign or shouldn't be replaced. Here's the evidence in support of Trump leaving office, and it's multitudinous; where's your evidence, Republicans, for retaining him?
Trump will stay in office, but we can raise these questions in the minds of the electorate to our advantage. Even if the questions are dismissed as "just politics," they have the decided advantage of being factually grounded in the truth.
