Kansas City mayor says he's receiving death threats over mask order

Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas (D) on Monday posted a message he received to his Facebook page using a racial slur against him and saying he should “hang from a tree” after he required the wearing of masks in public.

Lucas also noted a doctored image of him appearing to hold a T-shirt reading “F--- the police” has circulated recently, posting the original photo, in which the shirt he is holding is advertising a local radio station.

“To the many texting me aghast of fake photos circulating, I recommend you not believe everything a muckraker sends your way... and use some judgment,” Lucas wrote. “Odd to have to disprove something so patently ridiculous and nonsensical (who takes a smiling F the police photo at a rock station?), but alas, that’s 2020.”

“Add to this the racial slur and subtle death threat I received yesterday about requiring masks, and it’s like, y’all... let’s do better,” he added. The message Lucas received calls him a “piece of shit n----” and says “You should swing from a tree, I’m not threatening it, but would love to see it.”

He is at fault here. Dump fanned the flames and made it OK to hate.

Traitor and Hater in Chief.

have sat back and waited for years, waited to unleash their hatred and violence on us.

Having a Black president who was also easily one of the 3 best of all time, made it much worse. They could NOT stand it!

Now with the help of traitor and traitor's boss putin, they have no reason not to openly threaten to kill us.

No reason at all. By "us" I am not Black but I am a liberal and they hate me too.

my experiences, education, and training.

Try. (fail rate was significant during and after Bush - I could never abide conservative thought but that feeling grew)

Still...

It is now worse than ever before. Over the last few years I have been jumping to the "Fuck" that/them without hesitation.

I used to entertain an exercise of "But, why?" in an attempt to ascertain motive. Not the sock on the floor flare-up but what lies beneath.

I still do on occasion but mostly I just don't give a fuck why they act a certain way - even when I already know.

Knowing, that understanding, doesn't seem to matter.

They are not simply wrong, needing to learn a fact. They're not acting out, needing only some positive attention and direction.

They aren't imperfections, marring the otherwise pristine. Imperfections abound. Lot of beauty in imperfections.

No, these people are rot. Destroying the whole. Nothing beautiful about rot.

I am sorry that Mayor Quinton Lucas has to deal with the hate and ignorance of people he has sworn to help.

I am grateful that people like him exist.

I couldn't do it.

I also happen to know Quinton. My sons went to school with him. He's a great guy, and for the most part the people of Kansas City really like him.

What's truly appalling is to what extent people are completely comfortable with this degree of racism.
