In the days of hickory shafts, they were flatter, required more lateral shift, and needed to turnover low & to the left.
That forward lean & low hands might have been from a pretty good swing.
Not Vardon or Ray, but pretty good.
Now, on PINO's swing, we agree.
He is incapable of hitting 2 good shots in a row.
That's why he has to shave strokes.

(31,261 posts)on a course that Taft played on. One hole in particular was kept the same as the day Taft played it. The hole had a scary-assed looking sand trap that stretched about halfway around the green. The green was about three feet above me head with me standing above my drive in the fairway.
Taft took a 19 on that hole, as legend goes. The hole was a Par 4.
I laid up short of the trap and took my chances with a wedge in my hands. I got out with a 5.
