Susan Rice 'humbled and honored' by rumors Biden considering her for VP

Former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice said Monday that she is “humbled and honored” to be considered as a possible running mate for former Vice President Joe Biden. Asked by MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow if she is “in talks with the Biden campaign,” Rice responded: “To the extent that it is reported that I am under consideration in a serious way for the vice president slot, let me just say that I’m extremely humbled and honored to be talked about in the context of so many extraordinary women.”

“All I care about is getting Joe Biden elected president of the United States so that we again have competent, compassionate, loyal, effective leadership in the White House and flipping the Senate so that the Democrats control the Senate so we can pursue an agenda of healing for this country, one that tries to address the extraordinary racial and socioeconomic disparities that have been plain for all to see and that can restore our global leadership,” Rice continued.

She added that she will do “do everything I can, whether it’s the modern day equivalent of licking envelopes or raising money to serve in the capacity that he thinks is appropriate. I’ll do anything I can to affect this change for our nation because I don’t think there’s any higher imperative.” Last month, Rice said that she would “certainly say yes” if Biden, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee, asked her to be his running mate, adding then that "I want to enable him to become the next president of the United States in any way I can.”

Rice, who also served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under former President Obama, has been a vocal critic of the Trump administration. Earlier this month, she called the administration “racist to its core for the last three and half years.”

And she looks great! Biden could certainly do worse.

Plus, Biden/Rice has a nice ring to it.

Kamala would be my 2nd choice.

You really have to think who would be best qualified to be President if unfortunately it’s necessary.

If the main line of attack against Biden did not revolve around Hunter, I think She would have a better chance.

The last thing we need is the Son of the VP candidate speaking at the GOP convention in support of Trump. I don't think its fair, but right now going into this election, it needs to be part of the calculus.

She has never run for political office before. She give the GOP an excuse to bring up Benghazi once again. She won't help in any swing states or attract young, progressive voters to the ticket.

the only people who will listen are already voting for trump. I Biden does not need help from his vice-president running mate, he needs help to get things done after he is in office and she is the best one for the job.

No matter who he choices they will find something to attack. Everyone has said something or done something they can attack. It is nothing. Only trumpets will listen.

but why hand them something so effective in the past. Add to that Rice’s inexperience running for office and that she doesn’t help in any swing states.

I've felt it will be Sen Harris for a while now, but I can't wait to see how he goes! Rice is a wonderful option.

Strong, focused, knowledgeable about the issues and how the White House should work, no need for training wheels. She has a spine of steel that would go well with Biden's image of compassion and caring. She really strengthens the ticket, imo.
Definitely my first choice.
