KGOP skeptical of polling on tRrump

Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas), who is up for reelection in a state where polls show Trump and Biden in a dead heat, said polls are likely off.

"I think they're in all likelihood underreporting support for the president. That's what we saw in 2016," he said, noting that most polls still accurately predicted the popular vote.

"I'm always a little skeptical when I see a poll," he added.

Is the one on November 3rd.

I hope you are voted out of office by your purple-ish state then, John.

being held with other Republican Senators where the purpose was to figure out a way to replace Trump on the ballot in November.

but then Comey did his thing about the e-mails and polls tightened in the lead-up to Election Day. Her PV win was considerable, but the EC vote was the only thing that counted, of course.

Folks are once bitten, twice shy. The fact that Trump was defeated in the PV doesn’t really register as more than a curiosity give the damage he has caused. His razor thin victories in a few key states makes us all a little nervous.

But, hopefully, some of the factors that helped cause this won't exist this time. The 2018 mid-terms were encouraging and things have only gotten worse for Trump since then. And hopefully, there won't be any serious third- or fourth-party contenders whom help dice the vote up. And people are wiser about Russia and online disinformation. Keeping fingers crossed. Won't breathe easy until Biden is peaceably inaugurated in January 2021.

I remind myself this is NOT 2016. He has a record now. And it is an extremely vulnerable record. He no longer benefits from the "give him a chance" crowd. He had his chance. And boy did he fuck it up.

Although, frankly, I don't even understand the "give him a chance crowd" in 2016 and why they felt that it was even remotely acceptable to give a reality star with a reputation for a string of bankruptcies, a history of racist actions, unspeakably crude manners, misogny, admitted sexual assaulter, etc. "a chance" instead of going with a woman whose entire life was dedicated to public service, was a Senator for several years, a Secretary of State, intelligent, etc.

And lets not forget that, as bad as things are, he's still got legions of people and entire states that are going to still vote for him in in the EC a few months from now.
