Two predictions regarding the way Trump will handle defeat.

Last edited Wed Jul 1, 2020, 12:38 AM - Edit history (1)

He will not refuse to leave office because that would require at least some amount of physical courage. Also, he will be the first* president to refuse to attend the inauguration of the next.

* He will be the second (see Aristus below)..

I think there's a chance he'll quit before the election and even more after, if he loses.

Edited to say I can totally see President Pence up there watching Biden sworn in.

He’ll claim it was rigged until the day he dies, but he’s not going to refuse to go. A part of him will be relieved.

provide any info on the current issues to the incoming Admins. I remember Obama telling his staff & Dept. heads to get all information to turn over to the new guys. He said "want this to be a great turnover by all of us." I know for sure that will never happen with the current JA

Adams left town at midnight on the day of Jefferson's swearing-in. It was a petty act of an otherwise remarkable man. And he and Jefferson ended up renewing their friendship later, and it lasted until the day they both died, July 4th, 1826.

They died on the same day, too, July 4th, 1826. The horseback messengers their families sent to inform each about the other's death actually passed each other. It was also the 50th anniversary of the signing of the DoI.

If I remember correctly, Jefferson had died a few hours before.

As for how he'll react to losing, who knows at this point? The man is a lunatic under the best of circumstances.

The Donald's supporters are just like him: they have the attention span of a gnat.

bash anyone 24/7. I think that's what he really wanted when he ran. He thought he'd loose and make a fortune attacking hillary daily. He had a ready built audience ready to go.
Now, I dunno. He maybe can pull it off, but I also think his base will fade.
Remember, at one time Sarah Palin was their goddess, but now they barely recall her name.
Fickle bunch.

I really hope that either one of those scenarios works out because trump knows he's going to prison, what would a thing like trump do to keep that from happening? What would putin want done? Sure as hell makes me nervous.

Trump will either drop out knowing a landslide will make him look bad, give himself and his family pardons, then intentionally do things to hurt the country for revenge, claiming its from electing a Democrat, then escape to a country where they have no laws and out of reach to get brought back, or leave in the middle of the night, claim its for health reasons he's stepping down after pardoning his family and himself , then threaten to expose other presidents and this country's secrets if they come after him . He'll claim others of his crimes, like he's done numerous times before . He will then become the greatest victim, according to him, the world has ever seen. None of it will work , and justice will be served. They have everything on him, and his family.

Sorta like the opposite of the 'wailing room' or whatever they call it when a pope has been elected and he's given the chance to cry his eyes out before being announced to the world.
