Shortly after 2 p.m. Monday, in a hearing that lasted about 30 minutes, Dennard pleaded guilty to accepting $15,000 as part of a scheme to exchange her votes for money.
Dennard, 41, had already signed a plea agreement ... to honest services wire fraud, meaning she schemed to defraud citizens and the city council of their right to honest services. The charge carries a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

(11,736 posts)It is always tempting to use your power to try to enrich yourself. You see people doing it everyday and seeming to get away with it. You don't think you will get caught. Thing is, you aren't just abusing your power, you are abusing the public trust.

(4,392 posts)Was the deal because she also did so much "good" that she deserved the mercy of a shorter prison sentence, because her RED or BLUE(?) lawyers had made more money than that $15K she was guilty of taking for her votes, or because there's always a bigger RED fish for an excuse of temptation and behavior?
Votes are precious in and out of government--not that RED Cincinnati cares much about the verdicts of trials - Shame on a hand-slap plea deal - She disgraced herself and abused her office and her community - LOCK HER UP!
