It's about more than infection and death

When looking at COVID-19 we have become obsessed with focusing on infection and death rates and all but ignoring the permanent and long-term impacts of that COVID infection.

It is very likely that after becoming infected, especially if hospitalized, especially if they end up intubated in ICU, will experience permanent damage to their lungs, brain and other major organs due to COVID.

Many people that survive hospitalizations end up with dramatically reduced lung capacity, liver damage, kidney damage, lower GI tract damage and even brain damage.

I'm obviously no doctor but from reading and talks with my sister who is a nurse, the possible reason a combination of things, some is the drugs they have to use to fight the symptoms of the virus and the virus impacts the CO2 exchange process in the body and the organs become poisoned and damaged due to their inability perform this critical bodily function effectively.

The permanent damage is a lot more common than the news media is talking about and I feel that it's a lot more common result than death.

If people realized being infected can result in permanent damage to your body they would take it more seriously.

Wear a mask. Thank a nurse.

There have been many reports of long term damage to just about every major organ.

Even younger people are getting heart attacks and strokes well after they are "recovered" from Covid.

The problem is I have never seen any actual numbers of how many of the "recovered" are suffering from these long term afflictions.

And after all this time, I would like to see some data on these factors. A friend and I were discussing this the other day and came to the conclusion that this will likely shorten the life expectancy of our species to some degree.

It's also an interesting thing to observe from an anthropological perspective.

He is the NBA player that thought it was funny to go up to the reporter's mics and touch them all a day or so before HE tested positive and kicked off the shut downs in the NBA, NHL and MLB...

He was in the news THIS week saying he STILL is not 100% recovered from COVID-19. Sense of smell is still compromised and he is unsure how he will respond when they start trying to play again this month...

That's a young, healthy, world-class athlete experiencing issues 3 months after infection and recovery. Tell me, what chance does that give a hypertensive diabetic with a history of renal cell carcinoma and a familial history of widespread and persistent cancer?

THAT is why I wear a mask and why I HATE the cocksucking fuckwads that run around proudly NOT practicing social distancing or using masks. I truly hope they contract, suffer and die without infecting anyone else...the problem is that's not how the virus works and innocent victims and workers are the one's paying full freight in the long run...

Goddamn this country is off the rails and in free fall...
