For the second day in a row, state health officials Wednesday reported record numbers of new COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.
The Texas Department of State Health Services reported 8,076 new COVID-19 cases, marking the first time Texas crossed the 8,000 threshold for cases in a single day.
And 6,904 lab-confirmed COVID-19 patients are in Texas hospitals, a record for the third day in a row.
The latest number of new cases is 1,000 more than Tuesdays number, which set the previous record.
The continuing spike in cases and hospitalizations come as Texas has seen a surge in younger people testing positive for the coronavirus, increased outbreaks in child care facilities and one day after Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick criticized one of the nations top infectious disease experts.

No use trying to have him get a clue, there is no brain there.

Abbott has refused to issue a statewide order, saying in local TV interviews this week that the state is too big for a one-size-fits-all policy. "A mask requirement for a farmer to go milk a cow just makes no sense," he said.
Only in public if you can't social distance, you fucking door knob.
