The eagle has been part of German national insignia and rulers' coats of arms since the time of the Holy Roman Empire (which was actually German, not Roman). They adopted it from the earlier Roman Empire. It was also the symbol of the Weimar Republic.

However, the design used by Magas is more similar to the Nazi eagle than to the current or pre Nazi German eagle.

When I was a teenager, I raced homing pigeons. I could look at any bird of the 35 that I had and know its name and its parents' names. When I look at the Nazi eagle and the "Trump" eagle, it jumps out immediately to me that these are not the same bird -- not even the same sub-species.

I like as much as anyone on DU to criticize hoax-#45. But, these two eagles are not the same.
