McGrath raises Russia bounty issue in Kentucky Senate race

LOUISVILLE, Ky (AP) — Taking the offensive after her narrow primary win, Democratic Senate nominee Amy McGrath challenged Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell to disclose what he knows about intelligence assessments suggesting Russia offered bounties for killing U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

McGrath, a former Marine pilot, tweeted Wednesday that she’s “disgusted that nothing’s been done” in response to the assessments and demanded McConnell “man up and tell the truth.” She later accused the senator of “dereliction of duty,” unwilling to challenge President Donald Trump and hold Russia accountable.

“Mitch, you get regular security briefings,” McGrath tweeted. “What did you know and when did you know it?”

With the primary behind her, McGrath’s quick barrage was a prelude to what’s expected to be a big-spending, hard-fought fall campaign in Kentucky as McConnell seeks a seventh term.

We all have the right to know everything; however I feel our veterans have 10x the right the rest of us have.

I can't even begin to imagine what those currently in the Armed Forces must think about this

It is lethal to Trump and his enablers.

Stories are disappearing too quickly. We've already seen the William Barr atrocities drop out of the news cycle.

It's not so much the short attention span constant. It's just that when I'm being led by the nose I'd prefer the leash not jerk me back before I get there. Sure, I understand the wheels of justice are excruciatingly slow as they grind truth to dust in their circuit. But it's the job of the media to stay at it and they don't because people don't "pay" attention. Hell, Newt is still an item when the occasion arises as is Santorum. Too many "got him this time" headlines, interviews of "valley girl quotes valley girl" experts and misspelled, poorly written stories which join their dusty predecessors under some rug. So, I just can't seem to wax enthusiastic at the latest spotlight shone up into the clouds.

Trump CAN be removed. That is good. But Bolton and Pompeo still walk among us, as do any number of other equally horrible people. The corporate media will tire long before such as they suffer fatal exposure.

Pardon please, I gripe.

As former military, she has the high ground in demanding answers from Mitch. Plus, two of the largest Army bases are in Kentucky, and the military is a big part of those communities.

I was curious about whether McConnell had ever served in the military and found this interesting post from Daily Kos. It seems that Mitch joined the Army Reserves in 1967 but got help from Senator John Sherman Cooper to get discharged only a few months later under dubious circumstances. McConnell’s service records are not available. It would be interesting to see what the Lincoln Project folks could dig up on this.

"inappropriate behavior in the showers". Seems Mitch only last a few weeks in uniform. Part of his problem now is that he is in a business partnership with a Russian oligarch on an aluminum plant in Kentucky. Mustn't screw THAT up. I wonder how many Russian workers will be allowed into the country to work at this plant??

I assumed he got some sort of a break from someone high up. Cooper would have had the clout to make it happen.

It figures that #MoscowMitch would have gotten out of serving with help and not a legitimate reason or health issue.

And Mitch knew about Putin's rat fucking in the 2016 elections and he said nothing and chose
to keep that hidden. He was told all about it by the Obama administration & national security
people but he chose politics over the nation's security and democracy.

And hasn't Mitch deep sixed legislation to keep our current elections safe too?

Has Moscow Mitch truly answered what everyone wants to know?

Some set of mealy mouthed, putin’s bounties are or are not a thing the president needed to care about, because intelligence reports given to the P in the DB are just rumors? So, Moscow Mitch hasn’t actually answered the questions because, again, MoscowMitch defers to the pResident who defers to putin on matters of grave importance to the nation.

Otherwise, I just read a bunch of mansplaining punditry the rest of the way. McGrath deeply dividing her party? Ha. Hahaha. LOL. That’s some loud-assed gaslighting that projects a shadow puppet play in three parts on the cave wall in HD. That claim was so shrill, dolphins could hear it off the coast of the Carolinas.

Go get em’ Amy! You’ve got this!
