The Wall: Sonora governor closes border to North American travelers

Only essential trips to be allowed

YUMA, Ariz. (KECY, KYMA) - Americans planning to spend Independence Day in Mexico will have to make other plans. Sonora's governor is closing the border for anything but essential travel ahead of the holiday weekend.

Sonora Governor Claudia Pavlovich announced Wednesday travel restrictions for North Americans ahead of the 4th of July weekend to stop the spread of COVID-19 in Sonora, Mexico.

I have traveled extensively in Sonora, not just the border towns, but my passport is expired
so I'll have to renew it and hope Sonora will allow us gringos in again.

During the 2016 election campaign, Trump was shouting about a wall he was going to build to "protect" the USA from Mexicans, and he would get Mexico to pay for it.

During the 2020 campaign, Mexico is closing part of the border to protect Mexicans from US citizens, and what there is of the wall has been paid for by us.

Pity those poor misled border "militias." Now they have to patrol the border shooting at no one but themselves.
