Bottom line: people going back to work are spreading the virus, making things worse

We need to fight this ridiculous idea that “reopening” means that the virus has subsided.

It hasn’t. It’s worse than ever.

We’re on track to see 100,000 new infections a week. We are on track to see millions of people newly out of work or “re” out of work due to just-reopened businesses reclosing, as is happening in CA. And with Yertle and Rs saying they will not continue Fed UI relief to those out of work, more people will be forced to go back to work just to make ends meet, which will put even more people in harm’s way when it comes to contracting the virus.

In other words, things are already much worse than they were when the country was shutdown in March. And things are going to get worse exponentially because more people now have the virus than had it in March, and rather than asking people to shelter in place, we are telling them to get back to work and act like things are normal, which means more people will come in contact with more people who are infected.

It’s ass backwards.

The real shitstorm is just getting started.

... don't have the staff or equipment or pieces of test to test at the volumes needed to isolate the sick.

The US didn't "crush the curve" enough to go into sentinel process while other countries ... shut everything down when 20 cases show up the US have 20 cases down the street.

I thought we'd be at 50k by mid July not July 1st ... damn, even if CFR went down to half that's still 1500 cases a day

Anything that puts people in closed areas in close proximity for any length of time will help the disease spread. And the going back to work thing, even economically, won't be enough as we'll be lucky if even half the jobs are there to go back to in any manner. As you say, the real shitstorm is just getting started thanks to so many truly stupid people and no national level leadership that has even the mental capability of a virus.

anything Hospitality related is turning into a major step backwards. Do not forget, the ownership of these Hospitality Business's could care less what happens to their Employees. Let Workers Comp handle the bad stuff, just keep the Lawyers on speed dial.

If one has ever done Business to Business Sales or Service, one has heard or over heard the bragging coming coming out of the Executive Suite about their true feelings about their Employees.
