CNN - Young people are throwing coronavirus parties with a payout when one gets infected

This truly begs the question ...

Have we reached Peak Stupid yet ?

(CNN)Some young people in Alabama are throwing Covid-19 parties, a disturbing competition where people who have coronavirus attend and the first person to get infected receives a payout, local officials said.

The parties are being held in Tuscaloosa, and infected people are urged to attend so others can intentionally contract the virus, City Council member Sonya McKinstry told CNN. She said she heard about the trend from fire officials.

"We thought that was kind of a rumors at first. We did some research, not only do the doctors' offices confirm it, but the state confirmed they also had the same information," she said.

because those morons aren't just risking their own lives but those of other people they have contact with. Sometimes I think that as a species we are just too fucking stupid to survive.

We're killing the oceans.
The air, rivers, and forests.

The bees.

The permafrost is melting off billions of tons of methane.
That's an extinction event catalyst right there.

It will be a miracle if a human is left 200 years from now.

mimic this ignorance. Just when I begin to think that the young people in America could possibly rescue us from this madness I read this kind of BS.

I hate to give up on America but it has become a nation of ignorance by a large percentage of our population.

More emphasis should be placed on the long-term implications for some people who contract it. It may sound like risky business, life or death, well or sick, but the potentials are not glamorous.

1. You don't get it.
2. You get it and get very sick and possibly recover.
3. You get it and get very sick and then face a lifetime of potentially debilitating health issues and the list is very long.
4. You get and croak, join the Choir Invisible, shuffle off the mortal coil, etc.

The gambling there has really big stakes and maybe they should start to do some PSAs on that for the young people?

I mean, ok, so this is the thing, right? Someone holds a pot of money at someone's house. (which is beyond belief right there)

Then there's a party.

What? Then they all go to the doctor and come back with doctor's notes? Are the notes dated so they can win "the pot?"

Do they go to the doctor the next day? In a week? Two weeks?

Doesn't make sense in the least.

But then, it is Alabama.

If true, I thank them for thinning the herd and removing themselves from gene pool.
