A little-known North Dakota construction firm that was awarded the single largest border wall contract after its CEO effusively praised the president in a slew of conservative media appearances is now defending its product as experts warn the structure is in danger of collapsing, ProPublica and the Texas Tribune reported Thursday.
The company, Fisher Sand & Gravel (FSG), in May was won a record-high $1.3 billion government contract to erect a portion of President Donald Trumps proposed U.S.-Mexico border wall, despite FSGs prototype being rejected by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for lacking in both quality and sophistication.....
Victor Manjarrez, associate director for University of Texas at El Pasos Center for Law and Human Behavior said the notion of building so close to the river was nuts.
Youre going to get all the hydrology problems and not even from a flood, just normal ebb and flow. If I was the sector chief and built something like that, Id be in so much trouble. Manjarrez formerly worked Border Patrols sector chief in the El Paso area along the Rio Grande.

(1,896 posts)Three miles of wall-$1.7 billion. Just about $600million per mile. And it's falling down. What kind of infrastructure project with real value to the American people could we have constructed with that money? How many people could have been fed or educated with that money?

(1,789 posts)Will their president have better luck getting us to pay for it than Trump did getting Mexico to pay for the construction?

(10,156 posts)How many laws were broken in this fiasco? And the traitorous rethugs look the other way. And also try to shut down the small payments to out of work Americans. I guess his base is just like him, sprinkle it with some cheap dog whistles while overtly destroying America. Lindsey said at the beginning if the rethugs followed trump it would be the end of their party and theyd deserve it. But the rest of America doesnt deserve it.
