Rise in cases 'great news,' sign of 'massive' testing - TrumpUnited States President Donald Trump took to Twitter to commend the "massive" COVID-19 testing done by health officials across the nation, saying it is "bigger and better" than what any other country had done and has subsequently led to a recent surge in infections.
"There is a rise in Coronavirus cases because our testing is so massive and so good, far bigger and better than any other country. This is great news, but even better news is that death, and the death rate, is DOWN. Also, younger people, who get better much easier and faster," the US president wrote.
Earlier, United States reported a record-high number daily of coronavirus cases, confirming over 50,000 Americans tested positive for the virus in the past twenty-four hours alone.

Trump doesn't wear a mask and sets examples for his supporters on to wear them
Beaches, bars, tattoo parlors, beauty salons and barber shops open
People flock to these establishments; overcrowded beaches/bars; lack of social distancing
A week and a half to two weeks - we see a spike in positive test cases
Hotspots around the country are growing
Hospitalizations begin
Overwhelming of ICU beds; ventilators
In a couple of weeks the death numbers begin to creep up
So the death rate might be down now - because of the lag time between positive tests; hospitalization; overwhelmed ICU's - but Donald - you'll soon be seeing the death toll spiking.
It ain't getting better Don.

(14,488 posts)Analysis has shown (can't recall the source) that the rise in cases far outstrips the rate of increase in testing. Besides, all tests do not come back positive, only a small fraction do.

(64,852 posts)8% of tested people are infected, going to 15% is kind of a clue that it's not just more tests.
But, there's no way it would understand that.
