(12,712 posts)I am postponing my Independence Day and celebration until the outcome of the General Election.
Our country needs independence from the tyrant who is destroying it.

(2,227 posts)(yet there are fireworks superstores in every direction) I am going to have some to set off the MINUTE Biden is declared the winner (assuming conditions allow, long as the surrounding trees are WET, wouldn't want to start a forest fire...).
I haven't hanged a flag up yet outside the house, but I am buying one.
There are two options, hang it with pride (as I set off my fireworks), or burn it in shame. I'm really hoping I don't have to burn it. But it won't be needed if there is no country left.

(23,065 posts)His staffers have to ensure that he doesn't have a repeat of so few people showing up like what happened to his major embarassment in Tulsa. Hope they promised to come and just don't, they won't get paid anyway, it's just another of his cons against workers.

(23,065 posts)Hope that it happens, but don't really expect that it will. i'm sure his staff are pulling out all the stops this time and wouldn't be surprised at all if they hire a ton of actors.

(23,065 posts)What a huge catastrophe we just dodged! I would say for once in his entire freaking life he did something good, only we both know he didn't do this the reasons he stated. He did it because the sheriff said he couldn't commit to having the convention run safely because of health concerns and Cheetolini people weren't working with him to address those. DeathSatan offered 1000 national guards when police from other cities refused to come and serve at the convention because of CV19. Thank God the message from DeathSatan got to drumpf too late and the decision was already made. How many lives were saved by this fluke, probably hundreds and with even more hundreds of folks won't get sick? Also, now my sister and I don't have to risk our health to protest him (during the day only).
malaise
(268,724 posts)believe me
He didn't do anything good - they told him no one was coming and he didn't want that public humiliation again. That's good for us.
lark
(23,065 posts)Even better, he's not doing this in person anymore so no other place gets killed either. That's the best part. I'd love to be a fly in DeathSatan and Mayor Curry's offices today, I'd fall off the wall laughing, I'm sure.

(11,949 posts)Trump is so desperate to recapture the magic of his rallies. But they tried on in Tulsa OK, as reddest and as racist a place as exist in this nation. And it was an epic shit-show. And it hurt him. Real bad. He cant afford to have a repeat.
While Jacksonville is the most Conservative city in Florida(I dont really consider Pensacola a city) it is still nothing like Tulsa. They even a have mandatory mask order because we in Florida are now the hottest spot in the Nation for the virus.

(13,547 posts)sticks. Not far from Rapid City, but that's a town of only about 70,000. Thunderstorms predicted too. I wonder how many that were at Tulsa will be showing up? I wouldn't be too thrilled about it if I lived there. Bring in a bunch of the most likely people to be exposed.

(15,234 posts)A well placed lightning strike would be a major affirmation of Deity taking a personal interest in humanity.

(13,547 posts)isn't. I would imagine the guys handling the fireworks would shut it down if it's too windy. I sure hope so anyway.

(15,234 posts)All the time in the presence of Presidential image who were deemed successful. You would think after the last time he trespassed on sacred land in DC where he is unwanted he would show some caution. If not a lightning strike, disheveled hair and orange goo on his shirt are sufficient.

No rain, no lightening, but 20 something winds with gusts to 30, basically all night.
The pyro folks said no.
And our town has a river, over which they fire the aerial display.
Whatever year it was, the 4th was on Monday and the plan was for Saturday.
They were booked elsewhere on the 4th, and wind lasted all weekend.
No fireworks that year.

(32,599 posts)... he'll have to shake hands and talk to people all over the place. That's what conventions are for - meeting the voters and shaking hands.
Do you really think Chump will want to do that? I don't - he'll be scared shitless and so will his staff.
I think for that reason alone, the convention will be cancelled. HE WON'T WEAR A MASK!
