Another Day, Another Coronavirus Record In Florida - Bravo GOv Desastrous

https://www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2020/07/02/886595119/another-day-another-coronavirus-record-in-florida
Florida's surge of COVID-19 cases shows no signs of slowing down. The state Department of Heath reported Florida set another daily record Thursday, with 10,109 cases, surpassing Saturday's record of 9,585 cases. That brings Florida's total confirmed coronavirus cases to nearly 170,000 and a death toll of 3,617 (with 67 new deaths reported Thursday).

The new record continues a marked upturn in cases that began last month, weeks after Florida started allowing businesses to reopen. Gov. Ron DeSantis has defended that decision, saying that for most of April and May, the number of new cases and the percentage of those testing positive for the virus remained low. But then, DeSantis said, he believes Floridians became complacent. "After Memorial Day, when it fell out of the news," he said, "people kind of just thought, it was over."

On Thursday, he met with Vice President Pence and other federal officials in Tampa. Speaking afterward, Pence thanked DeSantis for his leadership in combating the coronavirus and in reopening Florida's economy. "It's not an either-or choice," Pence said. "The economic comeback that's underway is a demonstration that we don't have to choose between opening America and the health of our people. We can do both."

DeSantis has resisted calls for a statewide order requiring face coverings for people in public places. As the numbers of COVID-19 cases have risen, many counties and cities have adopted rules making face coverings mandatory.

is probably the worst of the Trump humping governors. Absolutely zero integrity or backbone. Once those death numbers spike, we'll see a big turnaround in the polling for Trump vs. Biden. GOP will have no one to blame but themselves. They followed a mentally incapacitated pied piper right off of a cliff any sane person could see coming. My sympathy is for the innocent who have died and will die from this gross governmental incompetence.

GOTV!

The mayors of the beaches, and Jacksonville, are all rich white repugs and they won't close until the Gov makes them.

Stupidity r them.

There's a reason FL CV19 new cases are the worst in the nation, or damn near the top, because our state is run by the rich white oligarch repugs who give a shit about anything except their wallets. There are some spots of sanity in Miami and the Keys, but not much elsewhere. Just glad we at least got a mask ordinance here in Jax, but guaranteed they won't enforce that or social distancing at the beaches or parks or rivers where people are congregating en masse. That's why we don't go to those places at all, never know what kind of crowds will just show up and inundate you with their non-masked spew.

Oh yeah, if there are any fireworks parties in our neighborhood, we won't go there either. Kids are sick or working, so it will be hubby and me by ourselves. Luckily he is a fabulous cook and oh the sauce he uses on his ribs is to die for. We will eat good, have a relaxing day, go for a longer walk than usual in the am, and later see if we can see fireworks from the deck or front of the house, and if not will look at stars then maybe watch some fireworks on tv.
